| I was listening to White Wedding by Billy Idol - classic old song that most people dig...
It gets towards the end of the song and he screams like a little girl (you know the part, when you kind of cringe and feel a little embarrassed for him).
My question is: Do you think there are artists/bands who finish recording a song and it gets out in circulation and played on the radio and in many cases becomes a huge hit, after some time in circulation, wish they could've done something different in a song ? Lyrically ? Or vox (like Billy's horrible girly scream), or even an instrument segment that they would have changed ?
Since that's more of a yes or no question, here's the actual discussion: Can you think of any songs, popular or otherwise, that if you were in the band, you would've done a portion differently, or not at all ?

| I believe this absolutely does happen, and often the band/artist changes the song for live performances from then on. I read an interview with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart that they were not at all happy with the keyboard drenched version of "Alone" from their Bad Animals album, so now they perform it as an acoustic guitar ballad for pretty much all of their performances.
I have also heard more than one artist indicate the many of the "ooo ooo, la la, na na or yeah yeah," type non-word sounds done by singers in songs are often the result of unfinished song lyrics that never did get resolved before the band had to hit the studio. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... | I can imagine that Geddy Lee now wishes he hadn't sung so high in the '70s.

| ^ THAT is interesting trivia ! I never knew that, but it really makes sense. I've heard some songs that annoyed me with seemingly mis-placed ooohs and ahs la la yeahs etc.
I hate repetition with a passion, but the only song I like that has a lot of na na na na nahnahs is Journey's lovin touchin squeezing. I think they planned that though. I guess, maybe they didn't, who knows ?
I guess one of the advantages of recording something you don't like in a song that becomes a hit is the fact that you can play it in concert how you want.

Geddy may think that today, but his fans don't. I love his vox. With Rush I can't really think of any songs that have quirky spots they may wish they never did. They probably wish they could go back and change the names of some songs ::cough::By-Tor And The Snow Dog::cough::

| Ozzy/Lita Close My Eyes Forever. Ozzy's "Close your eyes for meeeee" at the end. I would have at least redone the "meeee". |

You would never know unless the artist mentioned something about it. I think it might have been Chrissy Hynde from the Pretenders that said that (but I could be remembering it wrong). _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Well supposedly Vanilla Ice regrets the whole "Ice, Ice Baby" thing. Except the paydays. I imagine he is ok with those. | |

| If you ask Dee Snider the Senate Commerce Committee regrets asking him to speak at the PMRC hearings. Gotta love the healthy self-esteem of that guy. | |

| I believe Steve Taylor wishes he could have done a lot of his songs differently after hearing the tribute album done for him. He likes most of the other bands versions of his songs. | |

BIG TIME ! He seriously burned them to a crisp ! They had to act like he was just a lowly "rocker" who was beneath them, but Snyder spoke as intelligently as a lawyer with arguments that gave them pause... loved it !!
