Top Ten For 2013

Kind of surprised that Alldat hasn't started a top ten list yet for this years releases.  I noticed they started the one over at CMR and it has all kinds of rules.  Well no rules here (other than the artist must be Christian...or have Christian members, as that is our focus here at CHM), and it must be a 2013 release.

If you don't have ten from this year feel free to list as many as you want.  If you need a few more weeks to sort through a new disc or two that's ok too.  I'll start.

1. Stryper - NMHTP
2. Bloodgood – Dangerously Close (almost picked this as number 1)
3. Liberty N Justice – The Cigar Chronicles (yes this release is dated 2013!)
4. John Elefante – On May Way To The Sun
5. Victor Griffin’s In-Graved
6. Decyfer Down – Scarecrow (was shocked by how much I liked this, not your typical cookie-cutter modern rock)
7. Sacred Warrior – Waiting In Darkness
8. Absolon – Darkness Rising
9. Mission of One – Hostile To The Gospel
10. Skillet - Rise (liked this one even better than the last one)

Honorable mentions: CWC Power & Light Company's release Tetelestai, and also for Razorigami's release "Weathering The Winter of the Soul".  Looking forward to more great music from both of these bands.  Also liked Rivera Bomma's - IJOS, and much of P.K. Mitchell's - AHTP2

Dissapointments:  King James - Maximus, The new songs were pretty decent but not letting the fans know they were releasing an album over half-full of rerecords and short instrumentals was a real let down.  Also Seventh Day Slumber - Love & Worship, I actually liked this band's first worship album but found this one to be boring and uninspired....if they do anymore worship albums I won't be getting them.

Overall it great year for Christian Hard Rock and Metal.  What were your favorites of the year?

Hardly got anything this year. But I got:
ApologetiX - Hot Potato Soup
ApologetiX - Handheld Messiah
Mission Of One - Hostile To The Gospel
Placate The Masses - Conquer All (ok, so I'm biased )

...and that's it. I haven't had much interest in other 2013 releases so far. I may end up getting some of the Benson-Griffin stuff, for instance, eventually. I don't want to buy stuff I won't listen to.

I will get that one eventually too, but I suspect it won't be a frequent player.

I'm kind of surprised you didn't pick up the Gideon's Army reissue.

Dang, I forgot about Gideon's Army - should've ordered it. I'd need to hear samples, first, because I don't want to buy stuff with poor sound quality.

I'm waiting for two CD before I can make my favorite list of 2013.

That's cool.

Can I include Megadeth?

Megadeth, while not under the moniker of "Christian band", definitely has Christian members these days.  Besides, it's your list.  Put whatever was your favorites.  Even though CHM is here to promote Christian artists, I won't be offended at all if even a purely secular artist ends up on someone's list.

I want to stay with the spirit of the board.

Even sticking with the Christian theme I would have included Megadeth.  I almost added Ed Kowalczyk to my list as well.  Even though Ed is a born again Christian his music doesn't always strongly reflect that.  (Ed K used to be the main singer/song writer for the secular 90's alternative band Live....for rhose who didn't recognize his name).

I don't do well with lists.  I get all OCD and they always end up in alphabetical order.

Shouldn't that be CDO?

It could be ODC if you prefer to go from Z to A.

Just as long as it's not COD.....I don't like cod or salmon.   

CDO is like OCD but one step worse.
