| I could find the original thread but I was curious how the digitization of the back issues was going g/f? |

| Thank you for asking ! It's going very good. Working like a madman... keep running into small snags that take up a lot of time. Currently I'm 3/4 finished, but the last few issues to work on have up to 80 pages per magazine (compared to the earlier issues with only 20 to 40 pages) The process is a time-killer: I recieved most of the issues in a combined PDF file, I had to split the 1 file into individual pages, then in order to edit each page, I have to convert the PDF into a TIFF extension. From there I load every page of an issue and edit away. Then I save the edited page back to TIFF only to combine the whole thing back into 1 PDF file again. My current problem is, each issue completed turns out to be a LARGE file, ie 1.4 GB per issue... this is not going to work... so when I'm all done editing, I'll cross that bridge. Cuz I don't want to reduce the quality of the files, but I'm stuck with huge Gigabytes ! | |

| But THIS sticker is right over a guitar and there's no way I can re-create what's behind it... at least in a reasonable time. So I got someone who's gonna scan this cover for me again without the sticker... thank GOD !! | |

| I'm not surprised. At least you don't have to worry about returning your advance check it if takes you 12+ months to finish. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| My wife reminds me not to complain since #1. I got myself into this and #2. It's a labor of love and I never can know what God's got planned for this... He may reach some through these digital "reprints" (Doug has a lot of great evangelical messages throughout these old issues) | |

| So the price on the magazine is $2.50 but the Christian Book Store sold it for $5.50...I guess it beats ebay ... Maybe since the files are so large each file should be made available in a Zip folder that people would download and open. ?? |

| that's not a bad idea. however, we have another person involved in this project and he's spent a lot of time creating menus and formats for a ROM disk. Not to mention that it would be a lOT of downloading just for 1 issue. I'm really not sure how the final work will be made available. I suppose there could be a way to reduce and compress enough to where the entire 10 years of issues could fit on 3 or 4 DVD-Roms. I guess I need some expert recommendations on this part of the project. I've obviously saved all the files. Unedited PDF, edited TIFFs and completed combined PDFs. So if there's a way to compress the TIFFs or the PDFs without losing much quality, this would be a solution. | |

| OMG, I am so bummed !!! I know better !! I had about 5 pages open in my editing program and had them all worked up and ready to go, but I hadn't hit save yet !!! (you know the rest) Frickin laptop crashed. THAT set me back a 1/2 hour's work... what a nurtz !!! Oh well, when it's a labor of love, time doesn't matter - time to back up and re-work these pages.... sigh. | |
