For guitar lessons I have to pick 5 songs. I thought to pick 5 songs of Christian bands. My guitar teacher is expecting some secular songs too. But why I'm not into secular music anymore.
Do you guys have cool suggestions?

I'd always thought if I were to be taught the guitar then I'd choose a Bride song from the Snakes album. Maybe Psychedelic Super Jesus or Would You Die For Me.

You should take a look at Alone by Sanctus Real. It's not an incredibly hard song to learn (I just learned how to play it and I've only been playing for a year) and it has an upbeat tempo with a few fun riffs. Not to mention it has fantastic lyrics!

Why does your teacher want you to learn a couple of secular songs? Probably just so he'd be more familiar with the artists you are learning so he can be sure of their technique and style. A lot of Christian artists don't have tab or sheet music available. It's a lot easier to find music for secular artists online and fairly cheaply too. I'd say he's coming at it from that angle as a teacher.

Keep in mind those are tuned half a step down and not in standard.
I dunno what style you are pursuing exactly, but ask for some Rush.

That's why I take 5 songs of Christian bands. He likes secular bands much more, but I love Christian bands. I've always figured out he's not familair with the Christian bands. You can find Christian bands on You Tube too.
A lot of people are not familair with Christian rock, but it's my music. I think I'll find 5 songs from Christian bands.
More cool ideas?

You could still find 5 songs that include some secular artists if you picked a song that might not clash with your faith. You might want to learn "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" or "Something To Believe In" by Poison. Or, perhaps something like Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead Or Alive".
