Not really hard rock, but the DCB aka David Crowder Band announced that the tour they are on now will be thier last tour. Apparently working on thier sixth and final album as well. Sad. This was the one band that got me into worship music.

I like some of their songs, but didn't like them after seeing them live in Nashville once opening for Third Day. Mr. Crowder kept talking down to the crowd like everyone there were ignorant backwater hicks. I didn't care for it, and felt very insulted by it. I quit buying any CDs with his music except for the Passion discs.
However, when I saw them in February on the Winterjam tour, he did not do that. Maybe he was going through a tough time in his life/career.
Regardless, I wasn't much of a fan and won't really miss DCB.

There a some songs of the David Crowder band I like. But not much to say I'm a fan of this band.

Never cared for them either, listened to one of their albums and can't even remember it.

What do you mean by that, did he talk with a weird accent or what?

I like their music. It'll be a shame to see them go.
This is my favorite by them:
I also love this video:

Wonder why? They seem very popular so you'd think they could make it musically. I only like a couple songs, too much technoish type sound.

No--he kept making jokes and sarcastic remarks about Tennesseans. It was pretty insulting.

I'm not sure why either. I have a feeling David Crowder will continue on as a solo worship artist, just not with the band as it is known. Years before they signed, he was on an independant label that marketed worship music by releasing music by actual church groups. He released a cd under the UBC (University Baptist Church) and some of those that played on the cd would go on to be in the band. So I don't think we have heard the last of David Crowder

Sorry you went through that. The Newsboys were a lot nicer, saying it was nice to be in Canada, the land of hockey.

Always liked DCB (although I've never caught them live). Their studio output is unique among the often cookie-cutter "worship music" genre. Sad to see 'em go, but I agree that we've probably not heard the last of Crowder himself.
Peace, Rob

If you liked Crowder, then you might also want to check out Gungor. While Gungor never uses any of the techno flavorings, their writing style is just as quirky as DCB.

Listening to Gungor's "Beautiful Things" now ... it's quite different from Crowder overall, but similar in that they both employ a pretty broad palette of sounds and textures. I can see this stuff growing on me ... thanks for the tip!

That's what I like about them, their willingness to fully engage their creative juices when it comes to worship. I just feel like too many people hold back in that regard.
