| Went to go look up a band on Firestream, and to my surprise I saw the following message. - Quote :
- On July 22, 2009, Firestream.net was compromised and
attacked and was ultimately wiped off the Internet. The Believer's Heavy Music Refuge will not return. In fact, I'm unsure at this time if anything will return.
What about backups? I actually have a full backup of the forum from the day before the attack and partial backups of the Music Vault, minus album covers. The reason the site will not return is a little more complicated. Nearly two years ago I stepped aside as the day-to-day admin of the site to pursue other things and free up some personal time. I've managed to keep a home for the site from that time, but now, because of what happened, the site is homeless and I don't have the time or energy to find a place to sustain it.
It is possible that something could start fresh here in the future, but at this time nothing will be restored. I want to thank everyone who helped build the site up to what it was. A lot of you spent hours working in the vault and I won't forget it. This is something that completely took me by surprise and I never imagined things would end this way. There was a lot of history here, a lot of good times, some bad times, some drama, and I'm sure many will not be happy about this decision, but I have prayed about it and feel that it is the Lord's Will. So to the community at Firestream.net, thanks and God Bless.
http://www.firestream.net/ I used Firestream's Music Vault regularly...this is just plain depressing. | |

| Yeah it's big news over on the CMR. I joined along time ago but visitied only 2 or 3 times. Seems most everyone there was more into the metalcore/thrash/death metal style of music. Not how I roll. | |

| I heard about this on CMR. I don't look for us to gain a lot of their members due to us not posting about a lot of extreme metal. I expect for us to stay a rather small board just due to our feeling of family here. And, I am totally okay with that. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| I never joined or posted at Firestream just because it seemed that the most popular styles of music did not fit my tates. But I loved the vault it was a fantastic resource of Christian rock and metal info. I will definately miss it. I feel really bad for all the regular Firestream posters who have been displaced. I noticed that a bunch of them seem to be congregating at the CMR (which is great). I too don't expect to see many of them here, but you never know. The peeps we have here are great. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Personally I have more in common with the musical taste on this board than on the CMR. Not a bad thing. | |

| Firestream was my first home. Spent a couple years over there. Did a lot of trading and stuff there too. It stinks they've been sabotaged twice... whoever did it will get their's. I wandered around a while at a couple other boards cuz Firestream was too big for me, and I like smaller settings, like a little family.... like Cheers, where "everybody knows your name" ( you show your age if you get that). That's when I stumbled upon you fine people. and I haven't been normal ever since | |

| Was a member at Firestream but did not post there often. Still, I enjoyed the individual band forums and, of course, the Vault will be sorely missed. | |

| I was a member there, but rarely posted. I just did not like a lot of the more extreme bands they seemed to discuss. I felt as though anyone who liked modern rock bands like Day Of Fire or Kutless were looked down upon. So, when I would find a bit of news that I had not learned of here first, I would comment and then share it with you guys. - Quote :

| I was a long-time FS user (well, over 2 years) and was sad to see the original site go, but there's a new forum under the Firestream name done w/ the blessing of the original site owner, so I'm re-signed up over there as well. I am truly sad to see the Music Vault is not yet available again, however. I was a major contributor to that venture, and there are several years-worth of work in that project. It was, to my knowledge, the most comprehensive "Christian hard music" database on the Internet. Hopefully someone will be able to salvage it. | |

| I've used Firestream off and on for a few years, but only used the vaults to comment on albums and read reviews. I really enjoyed the depth of the database, and thought it very informative.
It's very sad to see that it's RIP'd. Hopefully the database will be put back on line soon, so we can all benefit from such a vast vault of facts and figures.
