New album by Anthem!

Way back in the 80s, there was a band called Anthem that did a single album called "Cuttin' Through".  They were out in the early 80s, so their music had some 80s rock and some 70s rock elements to it.  They redid that album and released it as "Cuttin' Thru II".  It was a good listen, but not my favorite band.

They were supposedly working on new music, and that has finally come out back in March.  The new album is called "Time Capsule".  As far as I know, it is a digital only release.  You can hear clips and get the MP3s at Amazon or other digital retailers.

Thanks for the info. I actually liked what I heard from the samples and purchased the whole thing. If this is indeed new material, then they seem to have really found a way to stick to that 80's sound.

Any idea of where I can get Cutting Thru Remix on CD?

As far as new material, this is material they were working on way back when that never got recorded.  I don't know why.  They decided to finish these songs and are planning on doing more.

As far as the CD is concerned, I found one on eBay.  To bid it was high, but the buy it now feature was ridiculous.

Welp, never mind. I found the CD and already ordered.

I found one on Amazon that was even cheaper for anyone who wants their first one.  It is a mere $96.01 with $3.99 shipping.  What a bargain, right?

I don't think this band was popular enough to warrant paying or charging that much.

I know those are samples but is that what the recording is like? Vocals are way out front and the instruments are uneven.

I like the mix!  It reminds me of 70s and early 80s rock.  A lot of projects from that era had the vocals out front and instruments weren't always even.  That's why we love them !  Music is too perfect these days.

here's what he told me about the CD version, which is not the same as the vinyl...

I wish they'd at least do a limited run of CDs for "Time Capsule".

I don't mind production not being so sterile, I wish they'd go back to analog, but this is too uneven imo.

Just listened to "Time Capsule" from start to finish yesterday. Very impressed. It is really is an enjoyable album.

Speaking of Time Capsules, it's probably pretty appropriate I listened to it while playing MLB '12 The Show  on my PS3....hahahahaha
