Yes, I have to have physical therapy to regain all my movement. The ankle is rather stiff after 7 weeks of non-use.

I graduated from crutches to a cane today. Man, that feels good to walk again!

Great news!

I did a lot of walking yesterday with the cane and even more today. I even took my truck out for a little drive to see if I could handle that part of going back to work at school on Tuesday. Man, that was fun!

I start my PT (physical torture) today to start getting some muscle built back up in my lower leg and get some mobility back with my foot.

May the force be with you....you're gonna need it.

I've had months of PT wile I have had a hernia.
It really helped.
No, it's not always fun, but it will make your leg stronger.
How many times do you have to go to the PT?
And .... back to work tomorrow?

PT sucks, but it really makes a world of difference if you're faithful to it.
I've had PT twice after each back surgery and it really helped a lot !

I did really well in PT today. I have to go twice a week and have a routine to do twice daily. I am going to attempt to go back to work at the school tomorrow. However, if the swelling increases, then I am done for the rest of the school year--all 8 days.

You are in my prayers today.
Will pray the swelling is not coming back. So you can go to school the last weeks before the summer break.

I have quite a bit of swelling. It's just something I have to deal with right now.

My foot is still swelling quite a bit since going back to work. But, the PT and home exercises are working. I will get out of this walking boot sometime this week and go into a new brace for possibly 2 months.

Why 2 months? I didn't just break the bone. I pulled all of the tendons off the bottom of my heal. So, while these heal up, they are going to need extra support to prevent them from pulling loose. This brace will give me more mobility and allow me to wear shoes. But, it will also provide the needed protection of those tendons as they grow back to the bottom of my foot.

That's great news.
Now, you got rid of the cast and now the walkingboot needs to go.
The new brace is one step closer to the healing.

Must be wonderful to wear shoes again.
How long do you need the PT?

Wow, you really did yourself a bad turn with that fall. Sounds like you are lucky to be able to walk.

Actually, that is true. The doctor said that I did about as much damage as one could do and still fix this.

I am out of the walking boot now and in a brace for several weeks. I was excited about this until I discovered that the plastic heel piece presses into my foot and causes me some major discomfort. I go back to my doctor tomorrow, so we will see if he can adjust it or get me something different.

Hopefully that doc can fix that for you, not fun at all walking on something uncomfortable.

I won't wear it if he cannot fix it. He will have to find something else acceptible.
