Let's help Chris to count down till the day the cast can be removed.

Today about two weeks the cast will be gone.

Getting a cast cut off is so pleasant. The high pitched saw noise that makes you think they're going to cut your skin, even though it's impossible to cut skin with a cast saw. There's kind of a musty dead skin smell after it's off. Then there's the hair on the leg or arm that's been covered for so many weeks - it actually grows darker and a little thicker. Not to mention the weakness of an un-used limb that needs to be built back up. ahhhh such fun Twisted Evil

I already know about the saw. My split that I got at the ER was too long and was rubbing my leg really bad. When I went to my doctor, they cut off part of the splint to make me more comfortable.

When I had my last cast removed (many many years ago). There was a small spring embedded in the flesh of my leg. It had fallen out of a pen, and just happened to land in my cast.
The doctor was not happy with me.

Did anyone do the cardinal sin with casts as I did and take a pencil or any other long skinny object and shove it in the cast to scratch an itch that was driving you crazy ?? Haha, I did that so many times.

I haven't had to stick anything in this cast to scratch. Maybe it's the time of year and I am not sweating or anything to make it itch. My cast is actually very comfortable. There is a really soft padding next to my skin to help prevent it from drying out so bad. There is no plaster involved either as my cast is made of a fiberglass tape. The doctor just wraps you up, wets it, and the cast instantly hardens. It weighs less than 4 pounds.

I will probably have to go on the 18th or one night that week, but I do hope to see this in the theater as I have seen every Star Trek film since "The Search For Spock" on the big screen.

My dad took me to see that one and I had no clue what was going on as I had not seen the over movies or original tv series. But, after this, we rented "The Motion Picture" and "The Wrath Of Khan". Also, a local tv network started showing Star Trek reruns every night. I was hooked. I took him to see most of the rest of the Star Trek films (except "Generations") concluding with the reboot "Star Trek" in May 2009. This will be the first Trek film that I absolutely cannot take him to see. While we did not share a lot of the same interests, Star Trek was something that Daddy and I shared that my two siblings just did not get the love for. This was something special for the two of us. Because of this, Star Trek will always be more special to me than Star Wars. When I watch the old movies or shows, I feel closer to my dad.

I had a special wire coat hanger bent to just the right angle to do the job.
