Broken Silence - "Discerning The Times"

Just want everyone to know that the hard to find release from Broken Silence, "Discerning The Times", has been re-issued on Retroactive Records. My copy arrived in the mail earlier today.

This is the version of the band from the Hawaiian Islands that was produced by David Zaffiro. Wish I had samples for you, but they bring to mind groups such as Stryper, Holy Soldier and the like.

Wow, another album to add to the buy list.

My only question is why the artwork hasn't been updated. No offence to the original artist, but the DTT artwork isn't very creative.

To order this CD is giving me lots of problems.
Is there an other way to order this CD?

I would go even farther than that and say the orginal artwork is rather lame. But maybe after all the complaining about the "new artwork" on the recent Intense Millenium reissues, maybe Retroactive has decided to avoid all that nonsense.

Maybe. However, Retroactive has usually been good at making brilliant new artwork. (King James, Titanic, Final Axe, RC & The Bleed, etc.)

It may not have been that people fussing about the IMR releases. Most likely, they are going to make a very limited run of these and just could not justify the cost of new artwork. Or, maybe the band just didn't want new artwork. It could be all of that rolled into one.


Vonnie, I am sorry you are having ordering problems. However, with this being a Retroactive release, you won't have to wait long for one of the places you normally order through to have these.

No need to get it. I have the Japanese version of the original. Decent listen, but nothing memorable as far as I can remember.

I just got mine and the music strikes me at times along the lines of Dio or a Queensryche then just a commercial pop metal band....


will admit I dont remember ever hearing of them before....

Tried to order Broken Silence via Amazon but there I see a note this item can't be shipped to my selected destination.
This is bummer.
The same problem as I had with ordering the Echoing Angels CD.

I have dropped in from time to time, but havent' posted in a while. I finally graduated with my Masters a few weeks back, so that is over, but we have been very busy with other things. My son is getting married in August, so we are busy with that. Additionally, we are having revival at church this week and VBS starts in two weeks after that, so I have been on a dead run for much of the spring getting us to those events.

As for the Broken Silence CD, I don't know. It just never stuck with me. I have tried listening to it on multiple occasions, but it never was very memorable. I couldn't name even 1 song off of it. Musically, I do like it to listen from time to time, but it just doesn't click with me to want to listen to it on a frequent basis. Glad it has been re-issued because a lot of people will really like it, but it was so rare that it was very expensive to buy a copy.

Does Retroactive ever release any information about upcoming releases? I usually hear nothing until the disc is for sale.

Some of their reissues, no. With newer stuff, the bands tend to start talking about it and then we fans get to talking about it. Grassroots sells a lot of stuff.

With this one, though, I heard a rumor about it several months ago. Until now, I had heard nothing else.

I have found an other way to order the Broken Silence CD.
