Eden's Way/Eowyn show

Last night, my neice and I took the 140 mile trek to Knoxville to see Eden's Way and Eowyn. Two other bands played, and the all female band Ilia cancelled.

Eden's Way came up first. These guys might be older, but they've got the chops & showmanship. They did around 7 songs from their "4.4.1" and "Rock Solid" projects. They also did a couple of newer songs. Look for some realy high energy 80's metal on their new CD due out sometime this year! They closed their set with a cover of Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It". They had changed a few of the words to make it fit better with what they are doing. They were awesome!

The bad thing with the Eden's Way set is that the kids in attendance just stood there. They did not seem to know what to do with this strange music. And, the guitar solos seemed to almost freak them out. People can do that with a guitar?

The next band was a group called The Coat Of Arms. They are a death metal band. I didn't care for them at all. Most of the younger audience did. I thought their sounds was too muddy, and I hate scream-o type vocals. I was not impressed. My neice wasn't either.

Next up was the group Honor Among Thieves. They were definitely more modern rock leaning heavily into the pop area. Not bad. With a decent producer, they could improve. The kids seemed to like them, but their youth pastor at the church we were at was IN the band. It makes a difference, I guess.

Last, Eowyn came on. Needless to say, most everyone there got into Eowyn's goth sound. Even Travis Wyrick, her producer, was there to support them. Eowyn definitely relates to the youth, and they seemed to hang on every word she said inbetween songs. Praise the Lord that she uses that connection to speak to the kids about Jesus wanting to be the cure for their inner pain. Great show!

All in all, it was a good night!

I am not too familiar with Eden's Way but the fact that their new CD is heading in an 80's metal direction sounds interesting.

BTW, what is a guitar solo?

Their older CDs are in an 80's metal fashion. But, with the new songs, they seemed to have turned the energy WAY up.

You should definitely try to get their last CD "Rock Solid" and review it. The guys would definitely appreciate it.

Thanks for the information about Eden's Way. I listened to samples of a couple of tracks and immediatly placed an order for "Rock Solid". This will definately go on the itinerary of CD's to review for the next update.

Sounds like a pretty good show for the most part. An eclectic mix of musical styles.

I just dropped in to let you know that there will be a new CD from Eden's Way coming down the pipe soon. Still details to work out, but if all goes well the new CD will be a testement to the ministry and the music of Eden's Way!
