Eowyn - Silent Screams

Indie artist Eowyn returns with Evanescence style modern rock with a new CD called "Silent Screams". If you like bands like Flyleaf, Evanescence, or Fireflight, then you really need to check out her new CD. Eowyn sounds not bad.
To be honest I am not a fan of female fronted bands.
Some sounds cool but others I really don't like.

I have been interested in this since I heard topshot play one of her songs on Rocksalt. I might need to look into finding a copy of this.

Right now, her website is the only place to order. But, that will change soon enough!

I ordered the new CD, and I must say that Eowyn is no longer playing at making music. The songwriting is fabulous this time, the musicianship is great, and the production is top notch. Bringing in Travis Wyrick made a HUGE difference. Eowyn's first two CDs were held back by either a lack of great songs or lack of great production. This time, she offers the full package and is set to break into the music biz in a powerful way.

Ok, now I really am interested. Sounds like I need to find a way to get this cd.

I liked her first 2 CDs as well. Haven't heard all of this one yet. Should have it soon - first one got lost in the mail.

Personally I absolutely LOVE female fronted bands (Nightwish, Within Temptation, Visions of Atlantis, etc...). I am not sure if I like this artist or not though. The reason is the girls voice is very breathy and similar to Alanis Morrissette. On "To My Surprise" it sounds like she is gasping for air and maybe a little off-key as well. I really like the music and I want to be able to get into this artist but the vocals are kinda "all over the place" for me. The good thing is I do hear some Lacuna Coil influence and this should be a great alternative for Christians looking for Lacuna Coil sound-alikes. As for Eowyn, I am hoping with repeated listens her work will grow on me.

On this CD, Eowyn is breathy, as you say. She hasn't been in the past. I think that Travis Wyrick has moved her performance more into this area.

Having never heard Lacuna Coil, I cannot say that I bought Eowyn's disc for the sound-alike quality. I bought it because I heard some goth-influenced modern rock that I think is pretty darn good. When you weigh in the topics that Eowyn deals with here, I think that this disc is very timely and relevant to hurting teenagers today who need something to give them hope.

The more I listen to Eowyn the better it sounds.
