Oh wow that is seriously heavier than anything I remember from Mission of One. Sounds super cool!
That isn't Mission of One, though. That is Joshua's Creed. Derek asked me to play on the track since I have 5 and 6 string basses. He didn't, but he wanted that on the song.

It will definitely be a future Joshua's Creed release. Chris did a great job on the bass!

Well I don't care who's album it ends up on, it sounds fantastic! (well maybe not my album, because that is never going to get released ... cause I'm not working on an album).

I completely redid one of the songs I am working on. After listening to the Rose catalog and now some Black Label Society, I have decided that I need to embrace my baritone voice and make music where O am comfortable with my vocal range. So, I dropped one song from A down to E. The 2nd song I ha e started will drop from E down to D. I am toying with other songs' arrangements and going lower with everything. Hopefully, this will be a great fit.
YES! This means more music I will be able to sing along with! LOL!

I finally got to work on my heavy blues track called "I'm Just A Fool". I laid all the rhythm guitars, bass, and even did the vocals today. I played around with the built in pitch shifter and was able to do my backing vocals without having to sing them! Reaper is great!

Backing vocals without singing? You mean without recording you singing them a second time? I'm picturing you taking the original chorus vocal and "pitch-shifting" them onto a second track so it sounds like two different people singing the same thing.

That's exactly what I did! I added two layers of pich shifting. One was pitched 3 semitones up and the other 5 down. Then, I planned them left and right to give me three part harmony without having to sing each of those parts.

Today is the first time I have either had time or felt like recording on over a month. So, what am I working on? Another bass track for Joshua's Creed! It is a low tuned song in C#. Not having a 5 string is why Derek asked me to take a shot at this as he is more than competent as a bass player.
Sadly, we may have to work on this again as I suggested some major changes to the song that may/may not happen. We will see!
Now I have recording for myself, Lordchain, Liberty 'n Justice, Incarnate, Walk On Water, and now Joshua's Creed. I am getting a nice resume!

I was also able to finish the bass work on a track of mine called "Watch Your Mouth". It is this super heavy, doom metal sound in the intros and verses. The prechorus has this dreamy, but still heavy, grunge sound. The chorus is just classic metal. The guitar solo sectionhas a slow grungy feel that goes back into a faster metal attack. If I can get a few things done today, I might try tracking the vocals on this. The rhythm guitars and drum programming are done.

Great to hear you have the recording bug again. Wild to think of you playing bass on a Joshua Creed song (that's supposed to be Xid's job!) Didn't you also record on a Lordchain Praise album (or was it a regular Lordchain release)?
Your description of the new Alldat song sounds great, love me some doomy/grungy influences in hard rock and metal.

Chris has offered his bass services on a few occasions. While bass in my primary instrument, the music I've been working on is being done with a 7-string guitar. Thus at least a 5-string bass is required and in that area I have a lack. So I asked Chris if he would be interested in laying down the bass as I know he has bass guitars that go beyond the 4-string variety.

I am speculating on what to do as far as my next release. I am thinking of just doing EPs digitally to gauge interest in the music. I wouldn't do a CD release until I had two EP releases to combine if at all.
What do you all think?

I don't mind buying EPs at all. I would much rather hear a new EP from a band now rather than having to wait a year or more while the artist/band fleshes out a full album of music. I also don't mind purchasing downloads (I'm honestly running out of available space for cds).

I am hoping to program the drums today for the 6th song called "The Congregation". It is a warning to churches that are dead but are still going through the motions.

Here is my track list for the EP as it stands right now:
Cordelia Storytime in America The Congregation Shut Your Mouth Murder Begins In The Heart I'm Such A Fool
The first two songs are faster and are more traditional metal. The next three are more doom feeling being mid tempo and low tuned. Because of the drum track on "Murder Begins In The Heart", it also has a KISS feel if Gene Simmons were to sing it. The last song is a heavy blues track.

6 songs is a great length for an EP. Seems like most of the EPs in the 80's where 4 songs, so two more is like getting extra frosting on the cake!

Where I come from 4 songs is a demo, 6 is an EP while 10+ is an album.

I now have all the drums programmed, all rhythm guitars, and all bass done for the 6 songs.
I still need to record vocals for two of them as well. Getting the free time to do it is all that is holding me back. When you work nearly 50 hours a week and then have a church to pastor, finding the energy even to do those tasks is difficult.
But, maybe I can get this part done this week sometime. Both of the songs I need to do are in a super comfortable range to make it easier to sing for me.

I have been at home for two days under doctor's orders due to severe back and hip pain. I was told to rest, so I have.
I also decided I could rest and work on music. Hehehe!
I laid the vocals for song number 6 yesterday and started the drum track for song 7. Today, I have done all the guitar parts minus leads, bass, and lead vocals.
Now that I have 7 songs, going for 10 and a full album doesn't seem so far fetched. Maybe I will go for it after all!
