Bride have three albums on the way.
1 - Bride - Christmas 2 - Bride - Bluegrass Gospel 3 - Bride - New rock album
The first two are available through Bride, but retroactive are hopefully going to be putting these out.
I may be getting old, but the Bluegrass album made me feel a bit emotional. You know, those old songs, sung in a raw way. Looking forward to that one. The Christmas album I'm less bothered with (although I will get it!), as I'm not that keen on Christmas songs outside of Christmas... maybe apart from Theocracy!

I am almost never excited about Christmas music/albums. However, I will give serious props to Theocracy's Christmas tunes, they are the exception.
Kinda digging that bluegrass song. Not sure if an entire album of that could hold my interest....but I would certainly give it a spotify listen before making any judgment.
So does this mean both Dale AND Troy to perform fully on both albums? I would have a hard time considering any of the recordings "Bride" without Troy featuring dominantly on the entire album.

I'm sorry, Bluegrass? Is he going to do Reggae or Jazz next? Seems gimmicky. I'll wait to hear the rock album.
It would be gimmicky if the boys of Bride hadn't gotten their start playing bluegrass with their family when they were young.

I ordered the Christmas album. I can't stand bluegrass and won't get that one.

I believe so, yes. The bluegrass one has their dad on most (if not all) the tracks too.

Probably get em both. Bluegrass, if done right, can be cool. A case in point--the Raising Sand project by Allison Krauss and Robert Plant.

Since I don't like Christmas song and bluegrass I've to wait for the rock album. Yep, I hope this one really rocks.

Despite my love of Christmas music, I just don't like modern Dale vox and this sounds as uninspired as pretty much all his other modern projects do to me. Maybe it will grow on me eventually, but I won't be paying $15 for it either.

I came across the Christmas disc at Boones. I see track 14 listed as Hallelujah. Is this the Hallelujah Chorus? I have heard it in church every year and this may be interesting when done by Bride.
I am liking the cover art.

No, Leonard Cohen's song.

I'm partial to the original, but that is excellent. Interestingly, that's about as soulful or rocking as he gets. Most of his stuff is adult contemporary.

I find it odd when christians cover that Cohen song since it's by an atheist Jew and the lyrics are not Biblical.

Even though I detest hearing Christmas music before Thanksgiving, I am gonna play the new Bride Christmas album tomorrow.

Ahhh, I'm contemplating getting the 3 rereleases (SNM, LTD and SIM) as they all have unheard of demos on them.
But that will put the tally to 6 Dale albums on my wish list! Well, I suppose that makes Christmas present for me quite easy this year...
SNM, LTD, SIM Christmas Bluegrass
The Systematic Brain Drain (or whatever it's called)
Other albums on my list will be...
the two Darkhorse Hero albums. The Brave - Evies Little Garden

I truly had never read the lyrics. The first verse is clearly about David playing music, but it seems Cohen is saying that the music pleased the Lord and not David's faith.
In the second verse, he starts off talking like this is David and Bathsheba, but the second half seems to be Samson and Delilah. Of course, the cutting the hair could be poetic for robbing the king of his power.
The third verse there is a confession that Cohen "doesn't know the name" which is probably referring to his own atheism. I could see how that wouldn't be a good fit for a believer lyrically.
The fourth verse almost seems like the writer is espousing Universalism, which is probably why Dale chose it. Even though the writer "gets everything wrong", he still seems to think that someday he will still stand before the Lord and cry out his hallelujah. However, for most of us, we know that it will be the Lord speaking instead of the unbeliever. The Lord will say to those on His left hand, "Depart from Me; I never knew you."
For anyone else with a different take on the lyrics, here they are. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.
Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen
[Verse 1] Now I've heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do ya? It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing "Hallelujah"
[Verse 2] Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew ya She tied you to a kitchen chair She broke your throne, and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
[Verse 3] You say I took the name in vain I don't even know the name But if I did, well really, what's it to ya? There's a blaze of light in every word It doesn't matter which you heard The holy or the broken Hallelujah [Chorus] Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah
[Verse 4] I did my best, it wasn't much I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool ya And even though it all went wrong I'll stand before the lord of song With nothing on my tongue but hallelujah

I would venture to guess that it is the Christmas lyrics version. Leonard Cohen was quite accommodating to some artists who wanted to use his melody and some lyrics and then write their own lyrics. Leonard allowed Lincoln Brewster to do a version but Leonard stipulated that Lincoln call it "Another Hallelujah". There is also a Christmas version and an Easter version...
Here is the Christmas version I know...

The version I hear sung here is mostly the Maori version, "Hareruia"
