Subject: Your Top 5 (or 10 or whatever) Releases for 2020! Thu Dec 31, 2020 9:54 am
I know some of us have increased our music collection quite a bit this year. Others may have only bought a couple of albums. Regardless of quantity, what are your favorite releases this year?
THE RULES:
1. Your list can be a top 5, 10, 20, or whatever. You want to do a list of 7? That's fine. It doesn't have to be a set number.
2. Because of the nature of this site, please keep your list to Christian titles only. If it was a secular release that has a lot of Christian content, then I will accept that.
3. Also, it has to be a 2020 release and deemed as such by the label or band. Even if the band mailed it prior to the end of 2019 but they consider it a 2020 release, then it counts. It can be a reissue as we, but it had to be redone THIS year and added more than just new artwork.
4. Whether you bought the CD, download, or just played the streaming version a dozen times, it does not matter. As long as you have listened to it, then it counts.
5. There is no number 5. I just like making lists!
I will keep this open until Jan. 15th to give everyone time to listen to their favorites and rank them. After that, we will see who gets the most votes for the number 1 slot.

This is probably going to take me a week or so as I just got three new albums and I gotta listen to them several days to determine where they will sit in my list.

For anyone making their lists, the OFFICIAL release date of Saint's "The Calf" was 1/1/20. Lordchain's "The Shadow Project" was also officially a 2020 release. John Schlitt's "Go" is also listed as a 2020 release. If you preordered from the bands, you may have received your copy early, but the masses had to wait.

And if we're counting Saint, throw that in there.

Like I said, you can count Saint, Lordchain, and John Schlitt's newest projects if you are so inclined.

Ha! Never. Have you ever tried listening to yourself sing? It's just weird.
I'm listening to The Waymaker by Waymaker for the first time today. I think this album will make my list for sure. Any fans of Narnia who haven't heard The Waymaker should clear their schedule and listen to this album. Loving it so far.

That was the one Chris was just complaining about the mix/mastering giving ear fatigue. Maybe he has dainty ears???

It might be that I'm listening low volume so I can work at the same time. I rarely turn up headphones. I already have hearing loss. Don't need any more of that going on.
Or, he might have dainty ears. : )

I listen to Narnia because of CJ Grimmark. I think Liljegren is an above average vocalist although he has gotten better with age, the last Narnia being his best performance. Grimmark is basically the heart and engine of the band - he's written every song and produced all of their albums. It really is his baby. The point is, if it's just Liljegren from Narnia, then it's going to be hit or miss for me.

I finished The Waymaker last night and decided that they needed more variation for it to make my top of 2020 list. Good album, but too much of the same....until the last song which is a gorgeous addition.

I find that with a lot of Liljegren stuff so I only listen to in small doses though I find the first Audiovision I enjoy all the way through.

It is just too darn loud! Even at lower volumes, the mix/master hurts my ears. The album is lost as a causality of the loudness wars.
