It looks like Retroactive Records is going to reissue Paradox's album "Ruler" on CD and Vinyl. (I think pre-orders start tomorrow April 30th). Has this one been reissued before? I'm not really familiar with this group, except to know they had several albums/demos and some of them might have only been released on cassette. I could have sworn someone from the band reissued an album or two on some small label a few years back (but I never purchased any of them).

Their album "Power & Glory was released by Demon Doll Records back in 2011. "The Wrath" was released by the band on CD back in 1999. "Ruler" has never been released on CD or vinyl. And yes, most of their stuff was a cassette-only release back in the day.

I might have to get this. I need to check to see what I have.

I thought that I had at least MP3 copies of this from someone, but apparently I don't. So, I ordered it after listening to one of the tracks.

I finally went to my building where I work on guitars and have my studio to look to see what I have. I DO have the Demon Doll issue of Paradox's "Power & Glory". Nice!

Pure Metal battle of the bands! That sounds awesome!! What did the winner get? A record deal with Pure Metal? What other bands performed?
Yup the winner was XALT... and they got a Record deal with Pure Metal...
Xalt Paradox 7th Seal (So Cal)
there were two others I'm sure, but honestly dont remember who... Revelation from Florida perhaps...

Man, they would've done better by picking Paradox. But personally I don't care for Xalt so maybe that is why. Or it could be a blessing in disguise as I have heard Pure Metal (as much as I loved their stuff) was a terribly managed label.

Xalt's album, Dark War, was a good album but they couldn't keep that sound intact.

Agreed. Each album moved further away from the metal sound and IMO got a little worse each time....until they put out "Helium Blue Gazebo" which I found unlistenable. (although I thought Under The Ruins was good, and History was alright).

I don't know if anyone has put this up here, but Paradox was on Underground Metal 1. The song is 'Meet the King' from Power & Glory, but for some reason, it is listed as 'Ruler' on the tape/CD cover. Paradox also re-recorded the song 'We Are The Temple' for the compilation album Brave New Music in 1991. It had a slicker production. I think there was a song called 'Give a Listen' that Paradox did for the Heaven's Metal compilation Cool Tunes. Not 100% on that one.

These should start shipping soon. Matthew Hunt is showing they were back from manufacturing on Facebook.

If you preordered, you need to check your email. The MP3s of this have been released to the wild. That means that the CD won't be far behind.

This is a great album that should have been more widely distributed in its heyday. Luckily for us, it has been resurrected for our listening enjoyment.
We are also fortunate that Retroactive will be releasing all three of their albums in the coming months and an all new project by the band as well.

Retroactive is now doing preorders for the "Power & Glory" album. I am going to sit this one out as I have a copy of this already. I don't remember if mine is the Demon Doll Records version of this and it sounds as good as the YouTube clip that Matt Hunt posted of his version. I had already ran mine through the remastering process as well for playing on my FiiO. So, I will wait for more from Paradox in 2021 when they will hopefully release a new album.
