I've never heard the original so I have nothing to compare it to, as this is the only song I have ever heard by them.

I like the updated sound, but it sounds more like a total re-record to me. I am going to order this one. I do wonder, though, what this will mean for Zion. Will they reunite and do more, or is this going to be it? I certainly hope this means that Rex and company will come together to do more. I like GX Project, but I would love to hear more lyrics in the vein of Zion.

I also like the original better. Everything has to be so perfect now and it's kind of sterile.

I miss when Rex sang. His AC/DC wannabe voice irritates the crap outta me. The only things he’s ever done that I like are X-Sinner’s Peace Treaty and this Zion album. (He also did some tracks on Metal Praise that I liked.) I’ve hated the modern X-Sinner stuff and GX is pretty bad too. I wish he’d return to singing like the old days.

I really liked that last X-Sinner album except for the fact that the low end was not in the mix. You can't hear the bass or bass drum. Granted, I want to hear more than that on an album which is my beef with a lot of modern rock and metal. It is all bass and bass drum. But, you gotta hear them to have the punch and drive that you want with this style of music. The mix was not good and sounded demo-ish....and this coming from a guy who made several albums that, in the end, sounded like demos, too.

Same here, while I like the first GX (and I own all 3) I just think each album gets worse than the one before it . This Zion sounds pretty good but I want to hear more before ordering.

Chris, are you referring to World Covered In Blood? It's been so long since I've listened to it I don't remember the mix. I agree with Mike On GX and I didn't get the last one because of it.

Yes, it was World Covered In Blood. The bass and bass drum from that project are almost non-existent in the mix.

Ok, after my first listen, here is my take on this: I don't like it.
The mix isn't right. The bass is too prominent and drowns out the drums and vocals. The vocals are too far back in the new mix making Rex's lyrics difficult to discern. The rhythm guitars are crisp, but the leads are back in the mix as well as though they are an afterthought. The final song on the album didn't get remixed as it was lost from the master tapes, so they remastered it. It was totally the opposite of the rest of this reissued album with little bass. I replaced their version with my own.
To be honest, except for the new song, I prefer my own remaster of the original mix.

Too bad. Guess I'll stick with the original.

If I get time this week, I will try to put together a small side by side comparison for everyone to hear.
