Souljourners - "Mind Control"

"Mind Control", the new CD from Souljourners, a progressive metal band that recently played the California Cornerstone festival, arrived the other day. What does everyone think of this? How do you like the songwriting? And what about the lead vocals?

Can't say that I have heard enough of the album of it to know too much.
I did like their EP. I really like that their song writing fits in the progressive mold but isn't completely void of hooks.

Okay, I have had "Left Behind" on my mp3 for over a year, and that is a fantastic song. The stuff that I have heard since doesn't really impress me. Listened the other day and thought "too much keys". That kid that plays guitar can really play, and I would like to hear more of that.

That being said, I really am hoping for more from them, and I do take into consideration that they are young (full of talent) and have great potential for better stuff.

I hope this doesn't come across too negative...but, that is what I think of it right now......that could (probably will) change .

I'm not usually into a lot of progressive metal, but there's just something about this that I like. Maybe it's because the band still knows how to write a good hook.
