This is just weird... (and I find myself liking it which is also a little weird)
Anyone heard of these guys? New to me. Not sure the "feat" sandwich filling is my cup of tea, but the bread on either side is catchy. Banjo anyone?

Ever hear of the David Crowder Band? Well, after he and the rest of the band split ways, he decided to pull together some friends from back in Texas, throw everything they liked into a blender, and out came the music of Crowder. It's part rock, part country, part bluegrass, part this and a pinch of that. I have both of their albums and have seen them in concert as well. They have a great live sound and energy without being so over the top. I never understood why bands jump around SO much.

So that's a yes then?
I think you've nailed it. It's the "part this and that" about them that attracted me it. I'm thinking I'll take the time to explore more of their stuff. So, as a fan alldat, what do you recommend for a Crowder newbie?

The "American Prodigal" album for sure! I has the most fun songs of the two studio albums Crowder has done.
Crowder's new stuff is a bit of an inspiration for me with my music. Mine won't be as varied, of course, but I like how he doesn't mind mixing genres a bit. That is why my album will be part blues, part hard rock, a touch of swinging folk, and the doo-wah southern gospel track. Just put it in the blender and defy some rules, right? Music should be fun to make for the artist and equally fun for the listener who connects with it. I feel that this is how Crowder (the band) approaches song writing.

I can't say that I am much of a fan, but I applaoud him for not staying in the "cookie-cutter" worship genre. I also get a kick out of this.

Thanks for that guys. I thoroughly enjoyed that musical journey. There's one that seems familiar to me but I've never heard it before. I think it must spark some memory of another song I've heard at some point in my life. This vague sense of déjà vu is nagging me. Any ideas what song this one is similar to (not including the rapping in the middle)?
