So I'm considering actually writing down some song ideas I've had for a long time and then recording them. I've thought about using Garage Band (since it was free on my iPhone).

Anybody used it to record? Like it? Hate it? I just don't want to spend a ton on recording equipment at this point because 1.) I don't have the money and 2.) I'm worried the ideas won't materialize fast enough to justify it...

I've never used Garage Band but Dillon recorded his vocals for Joshua's Creed using it.  I use Audacity which is free:  http://www.audacityteam.org/

While it certainly isn't the best, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than ProTools or QBase.  And it does what I need it to do.

I am still using a band in a box unit!  Man, I am behind the times!!!

I actually have a copy of Audacity that I've used to make ringtones for my phone. Unfortunately, my PC is older and I don't think it could handle recording but I may try it.

I have some Magix software that was inexpensive that I hope to use.  I actually want to record my EP on both my Korg unit and on the computer.  This way, if I screw up the computer based recording, I still have something to work with.

I've thought about using GarageBand for the vocals, drums, keyboards and bass guitar, and then transferring that track to my PC to do guitar. But it seems easier to just do it all on GarageBand....

So many options.

If it appears easier, then I would surely give it a try!  What can it hurt?

Well first I need to take all the ideas and actually write a song (or 5).

If you need help with lyrics or other parts, please let me, Derek, Andre, Fundy, etc. know.  We are all music lovers, writers, or musicians.  I have done songs using lyrics inspired or directly written by Fundy.  I did the mastering on the Joshua's Creed album.  I know Andre would like to do more music as well.  I can't speak for him, but the rest of us have worked at a rate you can't beat:  we work for proper credit and a free copy of the album typically.  I've also worked with Liberty 'n Justice, Incarnate, and Tim Davis Band with the same arrangement.  Networking IS possible.  I just want you to know that.

Thanks for the heads up. I have some neat musical ideas and I may reach out in the coming months...
