Anyone ever heard of this group? I discovered them last night after hearing "Bye Bye Bethlehem" on an online radio station. It's a Christmas music supergroup made up of people from various hard rock/metal bands, including John Elefante and Bob Carlisle. I don't think they're a Christian band, but "Bye Bye Bethlehem" is awesome either way, telling of the story of when Joseph and his family fled Bethlehem for Egypt to avoid the evil King Herod.

I have one CD and 3 other digital releases by NLO. They have that great classic metal/hard rock vibe.
Many of the people in the band are Christians and many of their original songs do pertain to the birth of Jesus. They also do a few secular tunes, but nothing vulgar. Most of the secular tunes you'd find on any Christian artist's Christmas album, too.
I may have to get these loaded onto my FiiO player and let them be the first things I play as far as Christmas music goes.
I think they get bagged on by some people because of the lack of originality with their name. It does seem that they are trying to use the fame of TSO with this project. That is where the similarities really fade as TSO does incorporate more orchestral pieces with their sound. NLO is a classic hard rock band.

I can definitely tell that most of the artists are Christian, especially with songs like "The King Is Born" and a cover of "Agnus Dei". This is really good stuff. May have to shell out some money to buy these songs - as if I didn't already have enough Christmas music on my computer (over 19 hours including both Christian (ApologetiX, both of Centricity's Bethlehem Skyline compilations, Downhere, both of the classic 25 Songs of Christmas albums, etc.) and non-Christian (Mannheim Steamroller, some TSO and assorted other things)).

I tried listening to one of the NLO albums today. I chose a 6 song EP. The music was great, but I guess I just really wasn't in the mood for Christmas songs.

It's really good music, but my only problem is YouTube's auto-generated "Northern Light Orchestra - Topic" channel also groups them in with the similarly-named "Northern Lights Orchestra" (completely different group that does orchestral covers of various songs) so I can't just leave it on auto-play without having to skip some songs.
