Again, this isn't an exact replica of the original, but I sure do like this one.  I'd love to hear you do an album of material LIKE this.  Your voice really fits this, PB!  While I like some of the original songs better that you've chosen for this, I believe this is may be my favorite track that you have done.  Great job!  Fast Eddie Clark would be honored, I believe!


Have you ever thought about using a band name?  Have you ever wondered if the Pastor Brad name holds you back reaching people?  I had to think long and hard about the change from Missionary One to Mission Of One.  I felt that the first had a negative connotation that would relegate me solely to someone inside the church ever even listening.  I caught some flack from people over that, but I don't care.  I felt it needed to be done.  With the blues album, I am using a totally different name so that people will A) know it is a change from my normal material and B) have it branded so that the name kind of sets the tone for what is inside.  Its branding and marketing, really.  For you, I think your last name done with the right font could really make an album just look more inviting to other metal heads.  Think "Winland" but done with lettering like AC/DC, Dokken, or Twisted Sister.  Now THAT screams hair metal!

Its just a thought.  I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Oh, is this going to be a self release, or is Roxx gonna carry this like some of your other material?

On the name thing---I've processed that... actually years ago.  I did just what you mentioned.  I had Windlan all "metal'd - out" and it did cool..

but, my mission is primarily one of a "pastor".  I absolutely pray that God uses my music to reach people---but I write it with the Ekkleseia in mind---to equp, motivate and challenge the saints to shine... to BE "Children of light"...   that's just my heart and calling.  And that's why I stuch with Pastor Brad

I am much the same thing with Mission Of One.  My mission was that of Jesus'--to share the kingdom with anyone with ears to hear.  It was a one man project, but it was more about Jesus' mission.  Thus, Mission Of One.

With the new blues album, I want to be able to do the same thing, but plant a few other things along the way.  If I want to tell a funny story or tackle a social issue, I will.  At the same time, you are still gonna hear about the Lord in the songs.  So, I went with a name that I felt went with the whole primitive look of my new fangled instruments and incorporated my brand so that I could advertise the band and the guitars at the same time.  I am big and I am Chris.  People really do call me Big Chris in real life.  So, I am morphing into Big Chris & D'Bare Bones Band.  It also refers to the fact that I am doing almost all the instrumentation.  That's about as bare bones as you can get.  On the song "Bound For A Throne", the parody of the famous George Thoroughgood hit, I am doing ALL the instrumentation including playing the drums.  It doesn't get any barer than that!

That's awesome Chris... honestly --- it's "the body" ... we all gotta function as the "part" God created us to be!

It is okay.  It is hard for us independents to move physical product unless we are doing a lot of live gigs.  It is almost not worth it.  But, that is also sales you won't get if the listener really wants a CD.  You are between the devil and the deep blue sea.
