| This may be a fun conversation. What artists do you love one project they were in but just couldn't get into another?
The opposite is (obviously) someone who you love everything they do. I swear, the worst, lowest quality project Michael Knott has been involved in is still more enjoyable to me than a lot of other bands' best work. Same with Reese Roper.
However...
I remember when I was still a big Stryper fan, I bought some of Michael Sweet's solo stuff and I did not like it. At all.
Another one is Whitecross. When I was younger, I loved me some Whitecross. Then I discovered that Rex had some solo stuff. Same thing. Couldn't get into it even though I wanted to.
Last one I'll mention isn't hard music but still worth throwing out there. David Crowder Band is probably in my top 10 favorite bands. Love their stuff. Worshipful but still creative, artistic but accessible. Then they split and everybody but David Crowder and one other guy starts the Digital Age. Boring as can be. Can't get into it. Crowder's solo project is about the same. I have the first disc, but only because I picked it up cheap. I don't listen to it much and when I do, I skip several songs. It feels contrived and like he's trying to please people too hard. Just can't get into it even though I want to.

| Wow, funny. I had the opposite with Crowder. I though David Crowder Band was way overrated. Had one solid album. But i love Digital Age.
When Whiteheart broke up Billy Smiley released a solo album. Even though it was alright, it wasn't as good as Whiteheart. And of course dc Talk... Kevin Max was the only member who was able to stay interesting.
Anyway there are some good examples as well. Novella broke up and Jonathan Pagano had some solid solo albums

| I've heard that from a lot of folks. DCB's early stuff wasn't the best but by A Collision, I think they were especially creative, and Church Music and their last album Requiem in C, were brilliant.
Yeah, I thought about folks that are the other way - you don't like their main band or whatever but they have a great side project. I don't care much for Vince Gill's solo work, or Rodney Crowell's, but they put together a one album band that made purist country and it was pretty good.

| Really dug those two Halo albums but could not at all get into the singer's solo work.
Michael Sweet's solo stuff is really hit and miss for me as well. I only own (and like) three of his solo alubms, but dig everything that Stryper has put out.
All the guys from Vengeance Rising (except the singer) left and started Die Happy. I really dig all three of those Die Happy albums, but could never stand VR.
I know Alldat will probably sneer at me, but I dig most of the Daniel Band albums and even like Dan McCabe's "Dreamer" project. But I cannot get into any of the Tony Rossi Band albums at all.
I really dig all the Rez albums, but Glenn's solo blues stuff isn't really my cup of tea. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

SNEER, SNEER, SNEER!!!! While I like both projects, I like Rossi's better. - Quote :

Are you talking Glenn's solo stuff, or his Glenn Kaiser Band stuff? There are differences? The Kaiser solo stuff is always more acoustic, or nowadays, cigar box guitar oriented. The GKB stuff is more rocked out blues with a hint of Rez, Stevie Ray, and ZZ Top thrown in. I love it! I loved Novella but couldn't get into the Pagano stuff. I love Whitecross but didn't care for the Wenzel solo releases. Petra is good, but I don't like the Greg X Volz stuff. Legend/Legend 7 was good, but I could not stand the Andy Denton solo album. Stryper is good and I like a lot of Michael's solo stuff, but some tracks don't hold my interest. Third Day is good, but I can't stand Mac Powell's country albums. One Bad Pig is good, but I never cared for the Paul Q-Pek material. - Quote :

I never knew that Billy Smiley released a solo album. Was it somewhat in the same style as White Heart, or was it more mellow? I love Bride, but I never cared for Dale Thompson's solo releases. I like blues nowadays and still can't get into those albums for some reason. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| I like DC Talk (the rock records, anyway) and I like a little Toby Mac. I liked Tait and a couple of the Tait era Newsboys. I can't stand Kevin Max's stuff. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| I like Audio Adrenaline until they made their comeback. Now they are just another lousy pop band.

Billy Smiley released 2 solo albums. One is an instrumental album I believe. I've never heard that one. The other was filled with material for a new Whiteheart album. But Whiteheart split and Billy released the material as a solo release. It's not that bad, but could have been so much better if it was a Whiteheart release.

I like pretty much all of the Mortification albums but I can't stand Wonrowe Vision. I just had this conversation with a buddy. Ever notice that even people who can't do impersonations can do one of Arnold (or Ahnold)? Water. California.
