| G/F...my post was not directed at you at all. I was chiming in with my thoughts on those who slam the guys who go back. I've heard it elsewhere, and I've been guilty of it too. No one here matches what I was describing. | |

- Follower of Jesus, I am in complete agreement with you. But as for this thread, I started it with pure motives - 100% curiosity, not with the intention of gossip or judgments (as I tried to make clear in the "disclaimer"). My main motive for this thread was the sincere confusion I have in multiple artists returning to their bands. If it were a couple here and there, I wouldn't bat an eye, but there are SO many that I sincerely wonder why ? Do they have a spiritual purpose for returning ? Is it financial (which I still don't judge or look at them differently... everyone needs to make a living)... For me it's just a curiosity. I've considered asking some of them, but I don't want them to feel as though I'm being judgmental or haughty. I got some great responses here, as expected - and as expected, no judgmental or negative responses.
Totally agree with this! _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

Oh bro, I totally gotcha... I wasn't typing in anger or anything, that's why I said I totally agree with ya. I just wanted to make sure that my motives were clear on this thread. Thing is, in the past I used to be judgmental and rather self-righteous. I would've handled this topic a little harsh. But I really am curious about this topic, and I wanted everyone to know that it's not the "past me", the one who would've judged their motives and called them out for "returning to the vomit" (again, that would've been the past me). But now I'm seriously just curious. But hey amigo, I wasn't getting defensive or nothing - just wanted to make sure the air was clear on this.

| To me, the whole "returning to their vomit" would be to do more than go back to their band. To take up the lifestyle they lived before knowing Christ and walking away from their faith would be that.
Why do people go back to marriages that failed? Why do people go back to places they have worked before and either quit or got fired? Without going through it personally, none of it makes sense. I have learned that I know very little. But, what I have learned is that we all are huge messes. I can understand my mess, but I cannot sort through it enough to understand someone else's. I can barely handle the mess I am much less the disarray that someone else may be.

| I'm currently reading the METAL BIBLE and came across the following testimonies of secular artists who came to faith, then eventually returned to the secular band that made them popular. Their reasonings were quite convincing and made sense. They see returning to their secular bands as a means to reach the lost, whether in their own band, or those fans that have an opportunity to chat with them on a more personal level. First one is David Ellefson of Megadeth:Second one is a member of the old metal band ACCEPT -
