Who's got the new Stryper CD already? What are your thoughts on it? I've only listened to it once, but I need to hear it a couple more times before I really give my opinion.

I have it but haven't even had a chance to listen to it all the way through yet. The first half sounded pretty good at first listen.

Two months!!!! I'm dyin' over here!!!
I gave it a listen while doing some work on a couple of new guitars. This definitely sounds more aggressive than anything they've done before.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get it. Stryper just doesn't do it for me like they did in the early days.

Mine came in the mail today and it is excellent. My favorite has always been Against The Law this one is better than that. As good as the last one was this one is better than that too. Came with a free vinyl sticker since I ordered it from the Stryper website.

Would love to own it, but it has to take a backseat for a while since I have a very small music budget these days. But it IS on my want list.... eventually.

I don't want to make Mikes head any bigger than it already is but from the samples I've heard and the things I'm reading from people, people are saying its thier best album in every category, production, musically, lyrically.

Same here. I'm working with a very small budget. I'm still missing all albums since the Murder By Pride album.

For those that don't have it and want to hear it, it is available on Spotify. If you don't have a Spotify account sign up for free and listen to it there on the webplayer. I suggest listen on your PC, the last time I used the phone app it always shuffled songs without playing them in order so I use the PC version.

I have been a Stryper fan since 1985. Soldiers Under Command & To Hell With The Devil have always been my favorites. They have not put out an album that I didn't like & NMHTP was fantastic, but Fallen is everything I've always wanted in a Stryper album. Excellent production, aggressive music and Christ centered lyrics. Every aspect of this recording is epic. It is now my favorite Stryper album of all time. I don't say this lightly. I started listening & I am totally sold on it. 5 out of 5 stars in my book.

I agree, it's my favorite and I am not saying that because it is new. Lyrically I always liked THWTD best but musically I loved (or still love) Against The Law. So for 25 years those were my favorite hands down and now this one is better than both of them for the reasons you stated above. Something about the guitars on this release sound heavy too.

Wow, that's quite an endorsement!

If you haven't heard Fallen, you might think it's being over-hyped, but it's not. This is, at least, one of their best albums. I'm pretty much a casual Stryper fan, as opposed to a fanboy, but I am definitely impressed with this one.

I'll be another voice in the chorus. This album is awesome. It reminds me of Soldiers, but its slightly heavier. It will likely end up being my favorite Stryper album but I need some time first. "The Calling" is just monstrous and one of my new all-time favorite Stryper songs.

I like it all, hard to pick a tune although I did skip the ballad. I really enjoy this tune.

I've listened to all the songs on youtube now, and I think it's a great album. Really looking forward to actually owning the album!

I've had a chance to listen to it a few times and while I will say it is an excellent album (one of their better ones overall), I'm not ready to declare it better than NMHTP.
There are actually two songs on that I don't really care for. I don't really like "Pride", and while they did a good job on the Black Sabbath cover "After Forever" I just don't care too much for the song in general (not even the original). But there are some excellent songs on this album, and it just might be a contender for my favorite album of the year.

I also don't care for the "After Forever" cover. While the boys handled it well, it has just been overdone. I know that F.O.G. did it. Didn't Deliverance? I know there is someone other than Stryper. Just leave it alone and do something else. Of course, those other bands don't have the following of Stryper and their versions were heard by a much smaller cross section of fans.
Other than not really caring for the cover tune, the album as a whole is amazing.

I really like the record. There are a couple of songs that don't do much for me. "Heaven" does little for me. The ballad is okay, but doesn't really hold my interest either. There are other songs that are decent, but won't stand the test of time. These would include "Love You Like I Do", "Till I Get What I Need", "After Forever" and "Big Screen Lies". But the remaining tracks - "Yahweh", "Fallen", "Pride", "Let There Be Light", "The Calling" and "King of Kings" are easily among the band's best work ever. My personal favorite is "The Calling", but all of these songs are outstanding. Even the songs that don't do much for me don't detract from listening to the album over and over.

You don't like "Big Screen Lies"? I would put that on the list of songs that are amazing to me. I also like that they still have a message but are pinpointing one problem in our society through the eyes of a Christian. We as a society pretty much accept/believe whatever is shown to us on the big screen of movies, tv, internet, etc. There is so much misinformation about the gospel, how to live, how to treat our fellow man, etc. While I don't think that watching movies and tv is wrong, I do think that it is dangerous if we are allowing the messages contained within to influences and direct our lives more than we do the Holy Spirit.
