Wow. I know. Those who know me will be wondering if I've lifted Jim's meds to be getting into this, but the lyrics are fantastic. Those who normally don't care for the harsher vox ought to give it try. You may be drawn to the dark side. Note: "Wake Up" is one of the harshest so listen at least a few past that and especially to the last track.
VxV playlist
How I feel about it is similar to Disciple's Back Again album (first one I got). I didn't care for the harsher vox of it but it became and still is my favorite by them. I've listened to this several times now and haven't grown tired of it at all.
I also listened to their first album, Captors, but didn't find it as enjoyable musically or vocally. They have come into their own on their sophomore album, VxV, though, and it will soon be in my coolection.

Listening now. I'm not usually into this type of vox, but I think I could get into them.

You lost me at "harsher vox". That means screamo and I absolutely detest it.

Come on, old dog. You're younger than me. At least listen to the last track, Father's Bargain. That's the one that sucked me in.
But if you detest Disciple's Back Again, I guess there's no hope.

That's me too, I just can't get into Disciple or this. And yes I did listen to that last song....sorry just not at all my thing.

Ok. Father's Bargain. Was all right until 1:25. That's when the harsher vocals start and ruins the song.

I'm a big fan of black metal, some death metal, and other extreme stuff but the metalcore just doesn't do it for me. It sounds too angsty I think. It's a very popular genre and it all comes down to preference/taste though.
Topshot, do you listen to anything else "extreme" or is this kinda your introduction? If I may, here are some extreme Christian metal songs/bands that you may like better:

Not necessarily. There are multiple kinds of harsher vocals.

I HATE (cooked) spinach (just the smell will make me gag), but will eat it in lasagna.
Kerrick, I can stand very few extreme vox. I'm pretty darn picky on even clean vox (why I can't get into Razorigami for example). I can deal with that BTA album. Used to willingly play some tracks from it on my show. The closest to death metal I can stand is Mortification and really Envision Evangeline is the only one I could say I like (and own even). Have never found any black metal I could stand. There have been several times in the past that I've heard something fantastic musically only to be ruined by (IMHO) inappropriate vocal style.

Right on Topshot. Well, it's all a matter of taste! For a while I couldn't get into extreme metal vocals but then it just clicked with me. (Orphaned Land was who did it for me, but I don't listen to them anymore due to their lyrics.)
If you haven't already, I suggest listening to that Virgin Black song I posted. Rowan's death vocals go down pretty smooth IMO and the music is fantastic. Their second and third albums (Elegant... And Dying and Requiem - Mezzo Forte) have very little extreme vocals on them.

The vocals with Wolves At The Gate is horrid. Just mostly single note monotoned screaming at me for no real reason. What a waste of good music.

We are not haters. We just have class and taste.

The same rings true for the opposite direction. I wrote Bride off after Show No Mercy. The music was good but Dale's ultra shrill vocals were annoying. I reconnected when Snakes was release and loved it! I then had to go back and check out their earlier releases.
