| And we continue in the era of Petra-lite. I remember picking this up and being immediately disappointed, asking myself is this the same band who, 10 years before, had recorded the stellar "On Fire!" album? Make no bones about it, I ignored this album like the plague for years.
But it, too, was also given a second chance last year, when I sat down and many of the songs began ministering to me in ways that didn't happen 15-16 years ago. Sure, it's not heavy. I don't care anymore. I like it for what it is.
My pick for favorite song goes to The Invitation.

| I'm going with God Fixation. I think the album is worth hearing just for that track.
I can see how people would accuse Petra of being "Petra lite" through this era that began with "Wake Up Call". They stripped the sound down on these albums and added a few more syrupy ballads because that's what sells on Christian radio. Lots of bands, Christian or otherwise did this to be more retail friendly.
This album was unique. It is the first without Bob on guitars at all. While it carries the name Petra, it is more of a John Schlitt solo album that is akin to his "Unfit For Swine" album with its alternative leanings. This is in the same vein.
I don't see this as Petra lite, however. It is a mix of alternative and a return to their roots. Look through the polls here. Petra has never had ONE definable sound. But, the first several albums were just as mellow as this one. Even though you had some rockers intermixed, the Volz years are just as mellow and laid back as this. So, I say a return to roots. It does scream of a band that is tired that needs a break. It also screams that one of the creative minds behind the band is gone and it leaves a major hole. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| I thought it was a Schlitt solo album. Listening now so I can vote. | |

| I've got this album but have probably only listened to it once, and that was about ten years ago. So I can't really say what song I like the best. All I can say is that it's my least favourite Petra album. _________________ My Christian Metal Website......... Silence Is Madness

| I listened. I listened again. I couldn't find a song I liked enough to call it a favorite. | |
