| I played in my church band for about 3 years. But when we moved to a new church the band had all the the guitarist it needed. So I guess you could say I'm "retired". _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I occasionally fill in on drums on Sunday mornings. I've only played 3 or 4 times. | |

| The last church we attended, My wife and I played on 3 different Sunday worship teams, a team of our own that played a devotional set on Saturday evenings, and a Harp and Bowl team on Saturday nights. Stayed pretty busy. Played styles ranging from middle of the road modern worship(Sundays) to highly improvised free-form music(Harp and Bowl), to blues-tinged Christian rock. At the moment, we are between churches, but the two of us rattle the walls here at home once or twice a week. |

| I haven't played in a worship project in almost a decade. I took a couple of years off from being Baptist to play on the praise team for an AoG church. We didn't get too experimental, but some Sundays I (the bass player) would throw in some extra licks. That would, in turn, inspire the guitarist to throw in some extra licks and more distortion. By the end of the set, we'd be rockin' even the slow tunes. The people loved it, but the pastor would fuss at us for "overplaying" nearly every time.
Nowadays, I don't play much at all. I don't know of anyone who wants to even jam. It sucks. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| I used to, but I just didn't care for my experiences in the worship teams around here. I much prefer a band setting. |

| Man I rocked HARD for several years at a Mega Church. We did some stuff that bordered on Metal and I ran a 100 watt half stack on stage. We ran 4000 or so on Sunday morning with levels on stage at 120db or better and FOH ran at 110. I wailed my brains out every Sunday Morning Sunday night and Wednesday night there for 4 years. Got a BUNCH of clips and wish i cold post um but ---the board won't let me yet. | |

I agree, Tall T. A band feels like family. |

Yep it likely stops the spam bots from posting the junk here that I see on some other boards so I can handle the wait!

| The wait time is over so I can post a couple clips. These are from the Old mega Church I was running a 100 watt Carvin X100B halfstack here and playing a Carvin V220 both 1988 models. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=4453782 http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=5049360 Here is a Vid from a local Labor day fest in 2010 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hVVMU7Ombg And some spontaneous improvised on the spot stuff from a meeting we did several months ago 1990 Carvin X220C through my 25 watt Zinky Blue velvet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzLclauwQBE better audio only recording from the same place but a different meeting again improvised spontaneous tune written on the spot. My wife says this stuff reminds her of the Jam Band stuff from the 60's-70's with folks like Airplane and the Dead and she don't like it much LOL. http://www.box.com/shared/m1k7am911s Last Saturday night with an ol bud I was using my PRS Custom 24 through the Zinky http://www.box.com/s/fepoff1flrz2vap2pee1

I agree, Tall T. A band feels like family. Almost every Church band I played with has been like that with a feel of almost family. The Mega Church group for one we were together for 5 years and after every service you had to just about beat us off stage. On Sunday morning we would show up at 8:30 go through our proposed set then play in front of 4000+ at the front and back of the service, leave at 1:30 or so all go to eat together take a break then come back that afternoon at 3:30 and do it all again then leave around 9 or so that night. This was my view from the stage for 5 years looking into that hall that sat 10,000. All these recordings were done with a little Walkman style Mini Disc recorder and mic set up on the sound desk to the left against the back wall of the hall. Here are a couple more clips most are from Sunday night as we got a "little" looser and more aggressive then. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=4939016 http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=4862091 One thing I really miss from there is that choir. the band sat on stage in the center of a 75 or so member majority Black Choir. We would do some modern worship stuff with the band and the smaller Praise Team then always do a couple Choir tunes. Many times the Praise team and band would then take the Choir piece and run a little with it like this Shackles Choir http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=5022591 Praise team and band takes over and runs with it a little with some improvised fun. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=5022612 We did stuff like driving down for a few days and playing the Thunder beach HOG rally in Panama city Beach as a team and also played the HUGE Birmingham City Stages Music fest every year. Here is a Thunder Beach clip and a photo of our KILLER porta stage rig set up on the Miracle Strip in Panama City across the street from Rippleys. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=5312459 i

| Wow that is one beautiful looking church. For some reason I couldn't get the soundclick links to open (might have something to do with me being at work). But I checked out the youtube clips. Very cool! _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Ascension, you are truly blessed to have had that kind of experience in a worship band. My wife and I are still looking for some folks to put a band together with. In all honesty though, I don't believe we'll find those folks until the Lord has completely worked me through some issues, one of which is pride. Not a thing I enjoy admitting, but pride is a great deal of the reason I haven't had many good experiences band-wise. Keep us in your prayers, please. |

For some reason I couldn't get the soundclick links to open (might have something to do with me being at work). But I checked out the youtube clips. Very cool! That particular Church went down in membership in 08 after the long time Senior Pastor Retired then went under after the crash hit last year. The building has been sold as it was not possible to sustain it with the smaller congregation. I now am part of a smaller Church that runs about 300 or so. Here is a clip from that team it's a work in progress. http://www.box.com/s/n5bxquckiqgm0j80i3cs I play out with several other groups doing Worship events and do a Saturday night meeting. Here are a couple clips of a particularly fun meeting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGuESIR5-L4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddp9yewSeN0 And a couple videos with still another group. This is a loose knit group of guys that I play with doing a lot of radical worship and Spontaneous improv stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v5D0lvH55Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z815sykqmwQ&feature=related
