I just got back from a 3 day music fest in ABQ called Freedom Fest. Great time, three days of Christian bands with roller coasters added in. Disciple, Emery, and the OC Supertones were there, but for my money, the highlight was Maylene and the Son's of Disaster. These guys were pure awesomeness!

Looks like the video is a bit of a spoof on the old Burt Reynolds move "Deliverance".
The last time I heard a song from this band (probably a few years ago) they sounded like a metalcore band. This sounds nothing like metalcore, definately a dirty southern rock/metal sound. I dig it. Does the rest of their newer stuff have this kind of sound?

Yeah, pretty much. I heard a couple of songs off the album they're getting ready to put out and sad to say, I'm not a fan of it. It sounds way generic. But you can be the judge for yourself. If the album is more like the second video, then I think I can dig it though:

Pretty much. Live they had a real doomy/sleezy vibe that I really dug. They sounded like a mixture of The Parlor Mob and Danzing. Good stuff.

I've listened to a couple of the tracks from their III album, and it does sound like they have ditched most of the metalcore stuff I heard before (or thought I heard before). Doomy-sleaze sounds like a good description. I think I will probably pick up their III album.
Thanks for making me take another look at them TT.
Silent Thunder that first video sounds like Skillet almost, wonder if the band is trying to move towards a more radio friendly sound on some of their songs.

They're not overtly christian though, are they?

Not really, although the lead singer Dallas is definitely a Christian himself (I feel like most of the other guys are too, but I can't confirm them). You can hear spiritual undertones sprinkled throughout some of their songs such as Las Train Coming, Oh Lonely Grave, and others. Dallas is the former singer for the Christian metalcore band Underoathe back when they really became popular. The lyrics on the first few albums have mostly to do with the story behind the inspiration for the bandname (named after "Ma" Barker who was the mother of several criminals including Bonnie and Clyde and John Dillinger. They later came to be known as the "Sons of Disaster"). I think they're stepping away from that theme for their upcoming album IV.

I am kinda diggin' the sound of this band nowadays as far as clips go. I don't know that I am going to rush out and buy these, but I would like to hear more.
