| It's a good idea to create a Spotlight thread to give monthly a band special attention. I thought this month to start with Siloam. Do you know this Canadian rock band? Now you wonder what is so special to Siloam. What touched me so deep is the story of the drummer and bandleader of Siloam Brian Lutes. Brian was drugs addicted and he was a prostitute. A tough life. Special the lyrics of "Dying To Live" shows how he was searching for God. These lyrics showed me Brian found God and his past was healed. In the lyrics you can feel Brian's battle to leave the past behind and is searching healing from God. It shows me that God can heal all the pain inside.
The best Siloam CDs.
Sweet Destiny 1992 Dying To Live 1993
It's nice when one of the others will post at the begin of October a new Spotlight.

| If we're going to do this, then we should probably create a sticky topic for each artist for that month. That way, the ongoing topic won't quickly get lost on page two or further back. I remember well those two Siloam discs. I had their 3rd CD, but it was nowhere near the same. Except for Brian Lutes, it wasn't even the same band. Those first two CDs, however, were great melodic hard rock. They really showed the need for people to have Jesus by the stories of people they told. I think that their approach to evangelism was different than other bands, but their faith in Christ was always easily seen/heard. They just wrote about people who's lives were ruined by sin and hard times to illustrate that we are all like that without Jesus Christ. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| Both of those albums are very good both musically and lyrically. I find it a little strange that all of their music was written by the drummer. It isn't often that the drummer is the leading force behind a bands music. I really liked the way their lyrics seemed honest and sincere without being sterotypically Christian. Yet they still had a very Christian message. I never heard anything from the third album, but from what I understand it was a very different style from that 80's melodic metal/hard rock sound on the first two albums. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... | I like the first one, "Sweet Destiny", a bit better. The follow up "Dying For Life" had a few too many ballads for my taste (although the bands new lead singer kind of reminds me of Sonny Larson). Still, both are good albums.
Also, I think that is a good idea about having a stickly thread for the artist of the month.

| I know little about them. It must be just me, but I found Sweet Destiny (the one with Apathy) to be very hit or miss. Most of the songs didn't sound right to me but Apathy and a couple others really stuck out. It seemed like 2 different bands to me. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

| The one with "Apathy" is "Dying To Live"
Isn't it possible to use the "Spotlight" topic every month for an other artist? Then there's no need to make every month a new sticky topic for an artist.

| OK, Dying to Live was spotty then. I just got the other one from AF.
We can just change the title. The thread would get confusing if we kept changing bands. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

We can just change the title. The thread would get confusing if we kept changing bands. I actually liked "Dying to Live" a little better than "Sweet Destiny". Of course I could have done without that "Enya Mix" of "Pain Inside" at the end of the album. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I agree with staybrite. Whilst Sweet Destiny was a very good album, I did like Dying To Live slightly better.
Their 3rd album wasn't rock so it's abit difficult for me to compare it with the first two.
Their 4th album I've only heard one song from and that's not rock either.
But their first two albums were great
