| I did it several years ago (created a spreadsheet on excel and keep them in alphabetical order). Including the few secular albums I have there are just over 600.....and I refuse to keep stuff that I don't listen to. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| None on in my collection are for sale, as I am now do a similar thing as Staybrite, although with a slightly different twist. I only keep albums I like to listen to, OR if they complete a set. If not then I get rid of them, so now I have no unwanted albums in my collection - some albums I don't like, but because they complete a discography I wouldn't want to trade or sell them.
Having a quick look through that list, some I have gotten rid of since 2005 are...
Staveacre, These Five Down, Crooked Smile, Common Children, Old Style Newsboys etc.

| I have mine in a database that my wife bought online for me one time. I tried to get all of the discs in it, and have tried to keep it up to date. Not sure I am entirely successful on either account. My database shows that I have 3078 individual titles with 3220 actual CDs for a total of 36919 songs. Bear in mind that some songs are repeated on multiple discs, and there are some duplicate CDs with variants of some kind (Saint on Pure Metal, Armor, etc. and such). I have thought about really selling off a lot of the stuff I don't listen to, but it is just so much work that I hate to start it. | |

| I've asked myself many times, why do I do this ? Why have I spent hours compiling detailed lists of my music collection ? OCD ? Pride in what I have ? Idk. I guess I just enjoy having a list to reference to... esp when I'm out and about rummaging through used cds, and wondering if I already have what I'm looking at so I don't buy a duplicate (which has happened in the past). I also like to share/trade OOP stuff with people, and the best way is to have a complete list of my collection readily available for them. At any rate, I've abandoned the website I originally kept my collection on (to cut costs) and am moving it to FreeWebs (where it was originally). Eventually, I plan to remove all albums I rated a "1"... should whittle down the list a tiny bit. My new goal is to just listen to what I have and stop adding to the collection. We'll see how long THAT lasts.... | |

My rating system is 1 to 4. Not based so much on talent, but personal preference. I've been given albums, bought albums I expected to be good, etc... they turned out to be noise I wish to never experience again. Some are good bands such as Avalon, I just do not like them. Some bands I got the album cuz of 1 song I heard on the radio, only to be utterly disappointed with the rest of the album. (This is probably a totally different thread we could start here, but...) Although some albums by these bands I might love, the following albums got a "1" and will not remain in my jukebox: 7 Hours Later 8Ball Cholos Agape -Gospel Hard Rock Apt.Core Barnabas -Artifacts and Relics Bash N The Code Beanbag -Well adjusted Crash Rickshaw Crimson Crown of Mercy Crux David Thompson GROMS Hoi Polloi Hokus Pick -Bookaboom Jaci Velasquez Jeff Fenholt Living Sacrifice -Nonexistence Michael Anderson Michael Peace Nicole Nordeman -Wide Eyed Out of Eden -No turning back + This is your life Robert Sweet Training for Utopia Again, has nothing to do with the talent or lack of talent... just don't like 'em. | |

| Drop is a really strange album. It works really well on it's own, but if you think of Bride as a hard rock act then it isn't very good at all. That was the trouble i had with it. At the time I loved every Bride album from Show No Mercy through Scarecrow Messiah. They were all hard rock or harder. When Drop came out it was worlds away from their previous albums (even though they were quite diverse from each other). And for that reason I couldn't like it at all. However if you take is as an individual album (which I do now) then it's a really strong album. I'm glad I own it.

Not many established bands will do that even if they change their sound significantly. It is almost an instant "kiss of death" for the band career. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Yes, I agree. If a band changes it's name then generally speaking sales go down. I don't really have a problem with bands changing their styles but keeping the name, although I realise that some people don't agree.
In the end it's their own band and they can call themselves what they want and play in the style they want.
Bride have done Rapcore (FFOB) Blues Hard Rock (Kinetic Faith) Alternative Rock (Drop) Metal (Live To Die) etc. I've never had an issue with them changing styles but keeping their name.
