Pete Furler returns!!!!

I wondered if he would be able to sit on the sidelines for long. I almost expected a solo record when the announced about Michael Tait coming on board was made, but I did not verbalize it at the time.

I really enjoyed the early stuff from the Newsboys so I will certainly be checking this out.

It's so weird to hear this - I was just thinking of him this morning. I was thinking back to my 20s when he was in his hayday with NB - saw them in concert many times, then how he left and fell into hard times, but God's grace reeled him back in... I am stoked that he's working on a new album- everyone should support him on this !

Are you talking about Peter Furler or John James? Furler was the drummer that took over on vocals for a really long time after James left. Furler's only been out of the band about 2 years.

I think the reason John James' story hits me so deep is, I'm on the edge of God's second chance.
It's hard to fail and then get that chance to follow God, take it and run with it... then to fail harder as a believer -
He is the God of second chances though.... I'm thankful for that.

We're all on God's second chance in some form or fashion. To deny that would be to deny our sin.




On the current Newsboys front, they have released yet another version of their new album. However, they have made the new song that they added to that version available to their mailing list for free. Cool, huh?

The music reminds me very much of the Newsboys while Peter was with them. but, this is definitely more serious than some of their previous lyrics. None of the quirky, humorous Steve Tayler influenced lyrics are to be found in these songs. These would have fit well with the Newsboys worship projects.

I think Peter will do well with this, but I am not sure I want this.

I have had the chance to listen to this. If you liked the Newsboys worship albums, then this will be good to you. As it is, all the songs just sound the same to me. I won't be purchasing this after all. I wish Peter well.
