Wonder why no John? I did not care for the Volz years at all.

I peersonally liked the John Schlitt era of PETRA, but if this train rolls into a town nearby, I'm there. I will more then likely buy the album as well.

I slightly prefer the way John sings, but Greg is great too, so it's all cool with me.
So, they're basically rerecording 4 albums and on each one they'll put on a few new songs for those who want them to put out some new stuff. That's ok, but I'd prefer them to rerecord the classics and then do a complete new album.
Petra always produced catchy and thoughtprovoking albums (with the exception of Double Take and God Fixation)

It did not say they were rerecording 4 albums--just hits from those 4 albums.
I find it odd that John is out and Louie is back in, too. It was John that fired Louie when Bob was out of Petra.

John's absence and Louie's presence may truly have nothing to do with each other. I believe John's doing more praise stuff now, and Greg probably wants to move from that kind of music back to rock (Greg's post-Petra 80's stuff was worship stuff pretty much). I think some folks are seeing a conspiracy where there is none.

It does say that they will "craft some new songs to add to the classic hits on each record" so they must be recording at least 2. It would be interesting to know what songs and how many albums they intend on doing.

I'm guessing that this will be "testing the waters" and seeing what kind of interest there is.

I like both Greg and John. However, my favorite Petra album is from the Greg era ("Not Of This World"). As a matter of fact, I saw Petra on the "Not Of This World" tour (with the same line up) in Tacoma, Washington in late 1984.

This is interesting. I will def get this disc. Would love to see them live but the chances of them coming here are slim. I may have to take a road trip.

I actually remember that concert (sort of). It's not that I went (I wasn't a Christian back then, and other than Stryper I didn't even know any Christian rock bands). But I had tickets to a Black Sabbath concert earlier that year and it was canceled. A Christian that went to my girlfriends church told be that if I liked hard rock I should check out this band Petra who was coming on tour. (and that would have been the show)

This is the only incarnation of Petra I have any interest in. I'll be excited to get this cd.

...and I thought I saw the very last Petra gig of all time here in Germany. If they play Germany close to my home, I'll be there!!!!

I was going thru my CD's and came across Beat The System. I pulled it out and played it. It still felt fresh as if I only listened to it last week when actually it may have been last year. I don't think this disc will ever grow old. I am looking forward to see what songs off of this one they put on the new CD.

Without a MAJOR step up to modernize those songs, they sound SO dated & tired to me. I pray that the keys get moved to the back and the guitars get heavier and thicker sounding when they redo these.

Gotta love the cheezniest of those videos. I am seriously thinking about trying to track down the Volz era Petra albums. I'll hit the tour up if it comes anywhere near me.
