Hope you found some good ones. I'm thinking about going out this weekend, as it's a PA day on Monday.

We got 6 today and DNF'd on 3. Not my best day, but not my worst either. The best part was that I got to hang out with another cacher and just get out and ramble. The worst day caching is still better than the best day of working!

Founding 6 is not bad, you know what is very frustrating?
Finding not only one cache.
That's great when you can hang out with an other cacher.
We sometimes meet other cachers too and then we can search together for other caches.
Or you need the help of other caches to figure out what the signs mean to find the bonuscache.

I haven't had to do anything with a "bonus cache". I started one series like that in Lafayette, TN and got 2 of the 3 but haven't been back to finish the series.

The cachers we ran up on were soem I had already met. Josh and I had given up on one and were just about to leave when they came in and found it. Either way, I got to sign the log. LOL

2 of the 3 that we did not find yesterday we are pretty sure are gone. The 3rd one was a trick cache in the Willie Willie Wough (meant to sound like Really Really Rough). They are always tough to find.

We didn't go today for geocaching, had repsonsibilities to my family.
Visit my uncle in the hospital and spend some time with mom.
Next weeken it's time to find more geocaches.

We have found a very cool serie of 5 caches and you have to solve some things to do the bonus cache.

Today one of the kids asked to use out gps and have found two geocaches.

The only caching I did today was to repair one that had been damaged. It's all fixed and ready to be found.

The weather looks good today. Time to get out on my bike and CACHE CACHE CACHE… after taking a shower. Future finders might complain about my smell! Razz

If all goes well, I'll get 8, and if all goes fantastic, I'll get 15. The extra 7 are a few kms south of where I would normally turn around and head back north (if I were finding the 8 first).

Should be a fun day.

Today it was very foggy and 37.
We decided not to stay inside, but to try to find some more geocaches.
The first we couldn't find.
Then a serie of 6 geocaches, the second geocache was ripped.
Now we have to wait till we can find that cache to find the bonus cache.

Do the series you have done also a bonus cache?

We don't have too many series in our town, and therefore hardly any bonus caches. Instead, I just choose a set of caches in an area and try to find them all.

How many caches have you loaded for today?
Have fun to search all those caches you have loaded.
I'm curious how many you have found today.

Is your new GPS doing better than the DeLorme you have used?

PostSubject: Re: Geocaching   Geocaching - Page 32 I_icon_minitimeWed Nov 23, 2011 10:34 pm

So far, the new Garmin eTrex 30 is a much better machine than the Delorme. But, only time will tell if that is true. I like the ease of this new machine. I haven't had to read the manual at all so far to do whatever I want with the Garmin.

I loaded about 40 caches for today just to be on the safe side. I knew I would be doing quite a bit of driving, and that eats up precious hunting time. But, I ended up finding 16 caches total for the day. Two of those were regular caches, and the remaining 14 were micros.

Also, I managed to fill in 3 squares on the Difficulty/Terrain chart. When you fill that in, a lot of cachers call that their "Fizzy Challenge". I had 39 out of the 81 slots to fill in. Today, I am down to 36 spaces left. I will eventually get that Fizzy Challenge completed!

I did DNF one cache and just failed to solve a puzzle cache today. But, if I only missed two out of 18 caches today, I consider that a good day. I also dropped of a travel bug of sabidoo's that I had found. I also found two pathtags (similar to travel bugs or geocoins, but have to be logged on a separate web site).

Sounds like you had a fun day. They're calling for freezing rain this weekend and possibly snow on Sunday, so no caching.

I won't have much winter caching time because I'm stuck without my bike.

You better can have to many geocaches loaded that less.
We tried to solve a puzzle first to get the coordinates of the cache.
Why do you have to log geocoins on an other site than the travelbugs?

Not geocoins. Geocoins were invented by Groundspeak and can be logged on www.geocaching.com (shameless plug) What I found were PATHTAGS. They are similar to geocoins, but were created by someone else. Therefore, you cannot log them on the main geocaching website. You have to go to www.pathtags.com to log those. It's kind of a bit of a pain.

I went out yesterday for a few hours. I found 7, one of which I had previously DNF'd on. The bison tube was hidden inside one of those little solar lights you put out in the yard.

I did DNF on one that I have been to 5 different times and just cannot find. Well, now I have a hint and will probably walk right to it. Those kind make me feel pretty stupid. LOL

I also picked up a travelbug yesterday. It is a Taz from Looney Tunes that has a travelbug tag attached to it. We are going to Gulf Shores, AL in December, and I might just take it there and drop it off.

We found 5 more today.
Still 800 to go before we can give a party for our 1000 geocache.

We have found one pathtag from Canada and had to log this one to www.pathtags.com.
We never take pathtags with us because lo them and follow them is a pain.

Good going to the Gulf shores in AL for geocaching.

We are geocaching in Germany next weekend.

I am going to an event to help bring awareness to geocaching locally. This event has been publicized so that anyone interested can come. Several cachers will be on hand to show these newbies how to geocache. Then, I am going to grab a few more caches in Murfreesboro, TN. Should be a good day!

Due the rain we only have found 4 more caches yesterday.
Today we did a serie of 9 geocaches.
It was nice to do this serie.
Only when your GPS is showing you the way in a swamp is not nice.
So 13 geocaches can ge logged. Not bad for one weekend.

Lucky you, Vonnie. I haven't been able to do any geocaching lately. Now that some snow has fallen, and I have homework to do (I'm getting off the computer after this post, I promise!), my caching is more or less done for the winter. I'll get to do some caching this winter IF I can get a ride to the caches. I'm not so willing to walk too far.

I only got 6 yesterday counting the event cache. One was an Earth Cache. The rest were traditionals. The final one was a 5/5. I needed that to complete my D/T chart for my "Fizzy Challenge".
