I like this one, as it was the first one that I ever listened to. I do like Gut Level Music as well.

I can't say that I've ever even heard the Alter Boys. I have heard OF them, but I don't think I ever heard them.

Since this thread started, I have a couple of their albums. I have "Gut Level Music" and "When You're A Rebel". I would recommend them both. Both of their albums kind of remind me of The Clash without being a total clone.
For those that are interested, they have done a Kickstarter program. Way back in the early 90's Mike Stand made some beginning recordings for an album called "No Substitute". This sixth album never happened and these tracks were forgotten....until now. The band is again working to finish these songs and a new album will be coming out, according to the pledge campaign, in Aug. 2018. There have been no updates in a while, so that is never a good sign with these things. I pray it happens on time.
In the meantime, I need to attempt to track down the rest of their albums.

Alldat, I just got an e-mail yesterday regarding the update. Mike Stand says the album ships out by end of August.

I love the sound of this album. It reminds me both of The Clash and of Bryan Adams. Can't go wrong with either!

Their next album, which will actually be out soon, will be similar in sound to Forever Mercy.

I want to like the Altar Billies, but I just can't get into the Johnny Cash type vocal. Had they been a bit more like the Altar Boys vocally, this would have come off more like the Stray Cats. As it it, it makes me think of Cash instead. Yes, I know both were technically rockabilly, but the vocal style says more country music to me.
