| That is why I plan to still buy the CD rather than just delete the music and move on. X-Sinner is one of my favorite bands and I would hope that the production quality of a new disc will meet 2008 standards rather than 1985 analog to digital quality. Like I said, I was disappointed in the quality of the vocals/mix not the music itself. | |

| I only downloaded to get a preview. I've had the new CD preordered since they announced they were taking them on their MySpace page. I'm hoping to hear an announcement soon that they are finally shipping. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| 7thSecond, depent on my mood I listen to hard rock, or old school, to bands as Third Day. It's not the heaviness or the genre of the band if a song is pure and honest. It's in what mood I am. Sometimes I have a hard rock mood, but sometimes I have a mood that the music/lyrics of bands as Third Day, Casting Crowns touch me.
Maybe the words I used didn't express what I really meant. Sorry for that.

That was a great site until he shut it down. Almost all of it is really mellow stuff, but there are a few gems. I played some during my alphabet shows earlier this year. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

Maybe the words I used didn't express what I really meant. Sorry for that. I'm assuming you're talking to me Vu2? It's all cool though. I just have a dad who is a Sunday school teacher and is always telling me that you can't be a Christian and listen to hard music. Needless to say that has made this and all related subjects a VERY sore spot with me personally. Almost to the point of anger. I'm sorry if I took it out on you. It's actually gotten to the point where we can hardly talk anymore without arguing about this subject. Guess he always thought I'd just outgrow it. Not gonna happen and he's starting to realize it. Granted I listen to a lot of secular stuff but to him there is no difference between Slayer and Stryper. They're both evil. To me Godly lyrics are Godly lyrics no matter how hard or soft a band is. That's why I have trouble understanding this part of your post. "but sometimes I have a mood that the music/lyrics of bands as Third Day, Casting Crowns touch me." Many harder bands have just as good/Godly a lyrics as Third Day type bands. Now if you would've just said "music" and left out the "lyrics" part I'd of understood better. Everyone likes to mellow out sometimes. Peace.

| Ohhh I meant 7thSecond instead of 7thSaviour.
Some weeks before my dad passed away he was at my home and we both listened to albums of Darrell Mansfield and Glenn Kaiser. He told me he likes this blues very much.

| Your comments, 7thSecond, remind me of a time when I had just become a Christian. For a friend's bachelor party a large group of us went and played paintball (phew, relief, since he was not then a Christian--might not be now, not sure--and I was never too sure where that night was going to lead to). Some of his friends there I had never met, and one of them caught a ride home from me. I had My Little Dog China playing in the CD player, and he thought it sounded great. He asked who it was, I told him, he said he'd never heard of them, I told him it was a Christian rock group, he looked at me funny and told me flat out it wasn't. We engaged in a debate, friendly for the most part, about how music could be rock and still be "Christian music." He was convinced there was no such thing as Christian rock and/or that the beat meant it couldn't be "Christian music." I might add that during the whole conversation I could barely hear him because he cranked the volume way, way up.
The whole concept seems alien to me, like lining up a bum from the street, a man in a business suit, a teenage cheerleader, an old man with military tattoos and an obviously hurting young woman with track marks up and down each arm--then saying only one of them can be a Christian, obviously, because, well, just look at them.
But I wonder how many people out there think this way to this day. It makes me think of the lyrics in that old Deliverance song, "It's The Beat," off that subpar album What A Joke.

Great analogy, did you come up with that on your own? I just don't understand how somebody can be so convinced that certain style of music cannot exalt the Lord. It just seems preposterous to me. I mean seriously show me where in the bible it says that only one style of music is acceptable to God. And what is worse those who claim only a certain "style" of music is acceptable are using an instrument or musical style that was completely unheard of by the Apostles. That alone should convince them that their predjudice is unfounded. Very sorry to hear that music is such a divisive issue between you and your father 7th. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| That analogy was spur of the moment. If I'd taken more time to think about it I'd have included myself so there'd be a very obvious freak in the bunch. | |

| About X-Sinner. I've gotten an e-mail 9 days ago with news about the long expected release.
"The CD is in manufacturing as I type, and should be completed during the next 2-3 weeks. Your copy will be mailed the day they arrive!"

Whats even funnier is that I had to spell check it to make sure I spelt it korrectly. For some reason now it doesn't even look right to me. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

I don't think that Vonnie was insinuating that some bands are more holy because of their style. Some heavy artists have some inspiring lyrics that really pump you up. But, sometimes the world itself just gets too loud and depressing. At times like that, I reach for some lighter, more pop stuff like MercyMe. They aren't a hard rock band at all, but I can usually find comfort in the Lord when I listen to them. Artists like this just seem to be a good "reboot" when I just get overwhelmed. I do, however, usually find my way and become ready to take on the world again. That's when the heavy stuff comes into play! I'm in that sort of mood today--the new Disciple should do nicely! _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| Chris is right. It never was my meaning to insinuate some bands are more holy because their style. What I tried to express is that the lyrics of bands as Third Day, Casting Crowns speak more to me than the lyrics of other bands. For example one is touched by the lyrics of Disciple while an other is very touched by the lyrics of Randy Rose. This weekend I found a Laudamus lyric that touched my heart. - Quote :

I have the same, when I'm overwhelmed I love to listen to the modern praise bands. I feel I'm having problems to express what I mean. Or my words are misunderstood.

| I knew exactly what you meant, Vonnie. I, too, get into moods where I don't want something so loud. Often I'll drive in the car with NOTHING on just to have some quiet time. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

Now I admit I've had days/nights like this before. And I commute 80 miles each way to work by the way.
