| I have been seeing ads all over the place for this new sequel to the Fantastic Four movie. It looks like it will be killer! It opens this Friday. Anyone going to see it? I have to work all weekend, so I probably won't go until the first of next week. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| I've seen the trailers but I probably won't be going to see it. I'm not a huge fan of marvel type movies, although some are very good indeed (Batman, Spider-man 2 etc.) I think in the last 5 or so years we have been inundated with these sorts of films, which, to be honest I don't really mind, but I can't really summon up the interest to go and see them all. | I wasn't all that impressed with the first film. I will probably wait until this one comes out on dvd. The Silver Surfer footage does look really cool though. -- _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I try to seriously limit my intake of meaningless movies like this so I won't be seeing it. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

| But it isn't meaningless. Holly & I saw this tonight. Great character development, and the plot holds your attention through this short, but power packed 1 1/2 hour movie. This movie is about serving an evil master, or choosing to do what is right--regardless of the cost. As Christians, we would do well to ponder that.

| 1 1/2 hours? Wow, that is short. After Lord Of The Rings I generally feel done by if the movie is less than 1 3/4 hours long. (Unless it's a kiddie film then I realise it has to be short) The best length for a film is between 1 3/4 hours and 2 1/4 hours. Pirates of the Caribbean was an okay movie but it suffered from being too long. It was about 2 1/4 but with the trailers and adverts at the start it ended up being almost 3 hours long, and for a film that isn't that great it sort of made me feel like I wanted to get up and have a walk round! | I love action films in the 1 1/2 range--IF you can tell the story without making it feel rushed between action scenes. This sequel manages to continue to develop the characters of the F4 while really bringing to life the Silver Surfer character. They left this wide open to both make a full length Silver Surfer film and another F4 movie.

I'll give you that. Maybe this movie doesn't suffer from it, but I don't want to watch a flick of good vs evil (good normally wins in the end or at least the evil character is killed/stopped) or some other somewhat moral topic where I need to wade through a bunch of trash or mindless entertainment as well. There are some cases where violence, profanity, potty humor (well, maybe not that) are appropriate but most of what is put out focuses on that and not the morals. So I treat most movies like I do secular music - I don't partake by choice because I don't feel they honor God. I hope that explained it better and will jump off my soapbox now. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

| I agree. We rarely watch movies anymore since "Clean Films" went out of business. I wish Copywriters would allow a family edited rental option. | |

| You can always check out the movies at Feature Films For Families. While not always a Christian message, all the movies they carry are made for families and come with a discussion guide so that you can discuss them afterwards. You could then take the Bible and tie it in to the films that are promoting certain moral values for a Christian slant/family devotion time.

| Those feature films were excellent... my brother got several of those for his family and they really enjoyed them. Clean Films was cool cuz they took the latest secular movies and deleted un-family material... we were able to watch several great movies that we would have otherwise never rented. Unfortunately Clean Films was sued by the money hungries in Hollywood. Way to go Satan. | |

| How would you regard Lord Of The Rings and The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe? They both have christian elements to them (TLTWATW being alot clearer), but they are not out and out christian. Fundy _________________ My Christian Metal Website......... Silence Is Madness

| I enjoyed most of the LOTR but they went over the top on some of the violent scenes. That's about the same with The Passion, too. It seemed to focus on the beating too long, but it's still my favorite movie.
I haven't seen the Narnia remake yet. I was OK with the older ones but they were geared more toward youth. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

| I just saw FF2 yesterday,it was ok. It reminded me of the first film. A basic story with good development and then a short/simple climax. If that is how the FF films are going to be, I might wait till they come out on video next time. | |

| Topshot, how do you view films like "Because Of Winn Dixie" or "Bridge To Terabithia"? Winn Dixie is definitely a film about finding redemption and forgiveness more than it is about a girl and her trouble-making dog. I know--it stops short of pointing to Jesus as the source of redemption. But, even in the end, all the characters are singing the old black spiritual "Will The Circle Be Unbroken". "Bridge To Terabithia" is about two kids finding friendship. It's also about blind faith. But, there is a scene in the middle where the kids are discussing what they've heard in church that Sunday. Two of the kids go all the time and think that they are being made to believe the Jesus story. "If you don't, God's gonna grrrrrr you to Hell!" (Yes, that's an actual quote from the film.) But, the third girl says, "I don't have to believe it, and it is the most beautiful story I've ever heard!" She gets it! I know--these are children's movies, but still awesome adventures for kids and parents alike. Some of us big kids like them, too.
