My wife wanted to eat an entire elephant ear by herself, but she was kind enough to share a little of it with me. They are definitely the highlight of every trip to the fairgrounds.

I think Dr. Phil had the best reactions though.

I love how there is all this studio noise left in (or added) to the video to make it appear as if it's a minute and a half of tense awkward silence!

Going to have my 2 year old grandson living with us for the next 6 days while his parents are away on the honeymoon. His four-year old brother (or "The Terror" as I call him) will join us for the last two (or possibly three) days. I'm going to be one tired Opa at the end of next week.

The Terror? I was known as Destructo as a child. Normally, it wasn't malicious, just a curiosity thing. This isn't a video of me, but my mom says it could've been:
The past two days have been a careers day at my university, specifically for engineering and IT. Given that I have an upcoming placement this winter, I'm looking for a placement before I go through the university's placement system (which, don't get me wrong, is excellent, but if I can spare myself and the employer from going through a process, then there's that gained). I don't know if it's just me, but I almost feel like I'm in the driver's seat with some employers. I only have one coop placement under my belt, but I have a strong reference from there, and I'm bilingual and willing to work anywhere across the country, not just the province (except a major city... screw traffic), so things look good. I already have an interview tomorrow morning, and a couple other places made it sound like I'd be a welcome fit Why do I say all that? It might be bragging, but it feels good to be wanted. I'm not worrying about job security in any case. After a few years of struggling to find a good student job, I'm suddenly in a decent place for getting a placement.

Amen! So far, I am loving the new church for that very reason. I haven't had a congregation be so excited about us being there in a long time. So, I know what Driven is talking about when he said it felt good to be wanted.

That's great for both of you My summer employer is keeping me part-time for the fall to help out with a few more plans. It's easy on the wallet, and it's a good selling point for future employers. I can truthfully say that my work liked me good enough to keep me.

I just learned that Netflix is doing an updated version of Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. In the new version titled The Chilling Tales of Sabrina, the mother of our teenage heroine is a Satan worshipper. Sabrina will also undergo a "dark baptism" on her 16th birthday and will also join the Satanic ranks.
I won't be watching this. Just what we need is a show that openly has Satan worshippers that will be the HEROES of the show. I don't mind dark tales where evil is rampant as even those show that the evil must be stopped. But, when the hero is evil herself, we set up a generation that will learn from this show that it is okay to worship Satan. Maybe switching to Pure Flix would be a good thing.

Yeah, it's based on a comic book series of the same name. It's definitely not going to be the same light hearted goofy Melissa Joan-Hart series.

I saw something about this... Sigh... Although to play devil's advocate (heh, pun intended), I wonder which is worse: to portray being a witch as cute, fun, and lighthearted... or dark and sinister? In this case, both the old and new are glamorizing witchcraft so neither would get my stamp of approval, but at least the new one is acknowledging where any of that is truly coming from: Satan. Where I grew up, witchcraft was very prevalent and I went to school with multiple wiccans and whatnot. It's evil stuff no doubt, but I assume the new Sabrina will cater to a much older audience who may not be as impressionable as little girls watching the old version.

Very quiet in the office today...just me and one of my employees. Thinking about dragging our landlord's ping pong table out of storage and setting it up in the middle of the office...but there are not ping pong balls. We do have plenty of pine cones around here though.

The places that I've worked, it was always on Friday afternoon (usually after 4 PM or later) when something major would happen. One time, one of our sister plants called around 4:45 PM saying that they needed a replacement extruder gearbox because theirs was damaged and they needed to run the line for a certain product run for a customer. When asked how long they had been working on the line until they called us, they said "Oh, most of this week"

I would HOPE that it would cater to an older audience, but you'd be surprised at what kids will tell you they watch. Just listen to kids and they have seen some stuff that even we adults should not be.
With that in mind, what this show seems to want to do is NORMALIZE Satan worship. It is going to make the hero someone who openly serves the devil. Teens are most likely the target audience seeing that the main character will turn 16 during the first few shows. I don't want any kids watching something that makes a Satan worshipper out to be a hero. Maybe this show/comic is leading the charge to recruit people and perhaps it is just a marker indicating how far we have fallen as a nation. Either way, I call this garbage and it shouldn't be on tv for any audience. Call me a prude, fundamentalist, or whatnot, but I don't see this show in any positive light at all.

We had a hot, but fun, day. My face and neck are SO burned from being out in the heat.
What were we doing, you ask? Maybe you didn't ask, but I will tell you anyway! With the new church, we did a carnival for the area with a bounce house, carnival games with prizes, face painting, and food. We handed out fliers all over the neighborhood and created a Facebook event to post to several local pages about community events. While not very well attended, we did end up with around 35 kids and parents today of which very few were connected to the church.
This was just a good day to announce to the neighborhood that we are still here and to show that our doors and hearts are open to them. We will be doing a lot of outreaches to the neighboring apartment complexes especially in the spring. We've just got to come up with more ideas for the colder months.
I believe God wants to grow His kingdom through this tiny congregation. Otherwise, I would not have accepted the pastor's position.
