Reign of Glory - Welcome to Reality

Melodic metal is back baby!!!
Just listening to the first single of Reign of Glory's called "Welcome to Reality" this morning and getting very excited to hear a melodic metal song with a great vocalist that isn't Dale Thompson (LOL)!!
Reign of Glory is something of a Christian metal super-group with Robin Kyle Basauri on vocals (Red Sea, Die Happy, PK Mitchell) and Roger Dale Martin on bass (Die Happy, Vengeance Rising), Jim Chaffin on drums (The Crucified, Deliverance) and Nick Layton on guitar (Q5 & FireWolf...both secular bands).

Another good album for 2022!  This could be a great year.

I'm a fan of his voice, but find the guitar pretty boring.

I like the direction of this!  Robyn's voice isn't as strong as it once was, and the band has written this song in a range where he is comfortable and powerful in his delivery.  I think this is gonna be a great album!

It’s quality and I like the musicians involved, but it doesn’t really grab me. It reminds me of Messenger’s In to Win, which didn’t grab me either. But I’m open to hearing more.

It was an album of that year that I purchased.

Let me clarify that Messenger is an excellent band. In to Win just never grabbed me and with all the praise it was getting I expected it to.

Yes, everyone has different tastes and likes different stuff.  Heck, one of my favourite songs is "Where Would I Be Without You" by Holy Danger.  Find someone else like that!

Oh, no worries, I knew you were messing.

I was just afraid someone from the band might drop by and feel like I was a jerkface. Which I am, but I try not to be.

I thought the first song was good!  This is even better!  Robyn sounds more like Jeff Scott Soto here than he sounded with Die Happy/Red Sea/PK Mitchell.  I like the gruffness here as it adds power to an already incredible song!

I'm expecting this might be my album of the year (too soon to say for sure, but I am totally digging what I've heard so far).

I also preordered this!  This could be another contender for album of the year with some stiff competition from The Brave, Fear Not, Stryper, Saint, and Rose (if it happens).

I haven't listened to it yet, but I did receive mine today.

I got mine yesterday as well, but have only had a chance to listen to it once.
My first thought is that I wish the production was a little slicker (like a Rob Rock album), but very much digging it just after one spin.

I’m hoping it comes to Spotify soon, because I want to preview this one before purchasing.
