I was looking at CCTV at work the other day, and I noticed a shiny bald spot on the back of my head. It's starting, folks. #OldLivesMatter

I started going grey when I was 24. I blamed it on a colleague!

My hair is definitely a whole lot thinner than it used to be.

I shattered the tip of my left index finger many, many moons ago. Couldn't play guitar for about 3 months.

This weekend was an emotional rollercoaster. I won't go into details, but I'm left here having to trust God, which is maybe not such a bad thing, but it'll be a challenge to learn to submit to His timing...

The version of Mexican Radio was done by Celtic Frost while the Rock Lobster song was done by Dead Horse.

I am super busy with music right now. I am learning the songs for the play I am going to be in starting on June 15, learning music for the mission trip that I will be gone on from June 10-15, learning song for VBS that is the 2nd week in July, and trying to finish my album. Now, if I only knew how to be this busy and be able to get a paycheck from it!

I buzzed my head for the first time back in 2004 when I had heel spur surgery. Since I had to bathe in the sink due to not being able to get my stitches wet, I buzzed it off. I did it again in 2006 when I had the other foot operated on. I let it grow back out and kept it that way for a while, but I noticed several times how thin my hair was on top. I buzzed it in 2009 before I started the church where I am the youth pastor and have kept it that way ever since.
As for graying, my beard started turning white a couple of years ago. I have tried coloring it, but that doesn't work too well. My beard is too course for that. I started noticing a few gray hairs back in the winter and I bought some shampoo that helps keep your hair your natural color. Yessir, ol' alldat is using some Just For Men to keep the gray away! It works, and it keeps me feeling better about myself. So, since I don't have to actually do a coloring kit, I am fine with it.

Just a quick thought:
If someone calls you judgmental, aren't they being judgmental too?

I am packing up and headed to Memphis, TN today for a mission trip there with Street Reach. It will be a hard week for me and my youth, but it will be a good week. Keep us in your prayers as the area we will be serving in is definitely not safe. Memphis is 4th in the nation now for violent crime and is close to that level for human trafficking as well. We went there last year and were scared enough to always be watching out for one another. Pray that we don't get lax and allow bad things to happen to ourselves.
We will literally go door to door asking for kids to come to a day camp we will do. A day camp is just doing games, songs, Bible stories, and crafts but in a park or empty field. Because Street Reach has been there doing this for so many years, the people there will let their kids go with strangers to the day camps. We walk them back when we are finished. Last year, there were gunshots across the street from where we were doing the day camp.
This whole movement was started by this tiny church called Brinkley Heights Baptist. They started doing Street Reach many years ago and even started a private school for the most at risk kids in the 'hood. It is called the Brinkley Heights Urban Academy.
You can learn more about Street Reach at: www.streetreach.org

So the VBS station I'm working is up in the youth room (Student Ministries Center) and we have one of the youth running the tech for us. While the kids are doing their activities, we play some music. Usually it has been the typical hip-hop/EDM influenced versions of worship tunes and modern CCM. Today, while the K-1 group was in, the kid slides in Petra's Beat the System! I turned and looked at him and he started explaining to me that this was Christian rock from the mid 80s and who Petra was. I laughed a bit and told him I owned every Petra album and had actually seen them live on that tour. He thought it was cool. He and his buddy love "old" Christian music.

I got back from Memphis last night, took a shower, loaded my musical gear, and appeared in the opening night of the play I am helping do music for! Whew!
