Standing at the front waiting for Megadeth to come out, talking with a very cool couple from ALBUQUERQUE of all places ... Christ-related tattoos all over their arms, very on fire for Jesus. Hallelujah, I'm not the only one that understands the references Dave Mustaine puts in his lyrics! (He's a Christian, after all)

Yes it was, but not anything I want to do again.  The venue was essentially a bar (a pawn shop, really, and a pretty cool one) and was only about ten yards deep from the stage to the back wall. There is an upstairs area with seats for the people with money (you know, the "I paid more so I'm a VIP" people Smile ), but the GA section was like a sardine can. I was very uncomfortably stuffed into what was essentially the second row; I could see OK, but all the getting-drunker-by-the-minute people behind me were pushing me forward so that it was all I could do to not be smashed into the lady I mentioned in the OP and a young lady that couldn't have been more than 20 next to her. I really didn't want to be the "dirty old man" behind her! LOL! Meanwhile, the moron behind me kept coughing in my neck, and then some taller guy behind me and to my right was obviously "banging his head" because I kept feeling his hair hitting my head, which wasn't good because his hair wasn't more than shoulder length ... I was convinced I was going to get head-butted at any moment! Finally, I'm short, so whenever one of the taller folks beside me raised their arms (something I didn't do ... I didn't even to it that much when I was a kid!) I got a good whiff of B.O.

You know ... all those "adult" things you don't think about when your 20! LOL!

The show itself was very good, even though the acoustics in the venue leave something to be desired. Dave himself was difficult to understand (he's difficult to understand on the CDs sometimes too! Very Happy), and I'm at an age where no matter how many times I listen to a song I cannot remember the lyrics, so following along was not very easy. One thing I did like about Dave: at one point early in the set he said, "how about I just shut up and play." And that's what he did. There was no unnecessary banter, just playing. And I believe he introduced almost every song ("This is ...") so there wasn't much guesswork.

One thing that bothered me was Dave's free use of "the F word." I know it's in some songs, and I'm not one of those that says, "you cannot be a real Christian if you swear," but I think I would have been more comfortable watching if his language had been cleaner. Of course, the crowd was anything but clean language-wise.

I think overall it was just a very secular environment, and I was less than comfortable with it.

Here's the venue:

Sounds similar as to when I saw Dream Theater at the Seattle Above Ground, but yours was a lot worse!  We were packed in tight but for the most part it wasn't too overwhelming.  No armpits in the face.
