I saw that.  I want to help them, but they've got to bring that first tier down.  $30 is steep for a CD.  I know--fans want to help.  Yada, yada.  But, I want to help, but they need to make it where we can AFFORD to help.

I wonder if that is because of shipping though. Remember, this is being shipped from the UK and shipping is included in the price. It can easily cost $10 or more to ship from the UK.

I was right about that. If you go to Stairway's website, shipping from their website is $15.75 (9.75 UK) to the US.
They even have a comment about it.

"Apologies for the cost of shipping we have had items go missing, so now all orders are shipped using Tracked & Signed postal service."

Personally, I did the signed cd for $37 US.

What I like about these crowd funding projects is the chance to get signed copies directly from them.

I figure an import cd is going to cost me $18-$25 usually....so adding a little more to get it signed and also to help out the band is ok, in my book.

I don't usually pay that much for an import CD.  I have found that if you wait just a little that someone in the USA will either carry that version or some company will release a domestic version that costs much less.  I may help them though as I did not know about the shipping costs.

I haven't had much luck with imports coming down.

A lot of Impellitteri discs are still costly and even though I waited and waited the Steffanie discs still cost me $25 a shot. Steffanie was the girl fronted rock band JK Northrup was in during the 80s, btw

The Impelletteri discs, especially the last couple, had American releases that were cheaper if you waited.

I know the last two did, but if you try to find any of the older Impellitteri discs it is hard to find them under $20 for new. Some go for $30 to $40.

Even Wicked Maiden is expensive now. A lot of the lower priced ones you see are counterfeits disguised as Russian releases.

I didn't have to give that much for my Impelletteri discs.  I did not know they were that bad.  I bought them used or found USA distributors closer to their release.

OK, I am pledged now for the signed CD.  I still think it is a little steep, but I have been friends with the singer/bass player on Facebook for some time and just feel I should help these guys out.  Besides, I have been one of the people that have encouraged them to step it up in the production department.

I'd really like to jump on board, but now is not a good time financially. There's still 57 days left, so I'll keep an eye on it; depending on how the money flows over the next 1.5 months ... well, we'll see.

You had never heard of Stairway?  They've been around for a LONG time.

Didn't they form in the late 70s?

I think so, but their debut album didn't come out until in the 80's sometime.  They've been working at a snail's pace to release new music.

I had to help Graeme "share" about this on Facebook.  I hope that he uses my wisdom about hitting every Christian metal page he can find.  Then, back off for several days and give an update of where they are in the pledge campaign.  That connects him to the fans without being pushy like some bands have been in the past.  I think he will take my advice and wade in slowly just to see how people seem to respond.  In just a couple of shares, they jumped from 7 to 9% funded.

Yeah, part off that was TDR putting his pledge in, too.

There is only a handful of us.

That would be wonderful when you can give what you can AFFORD.

I am urging Graeme to add some lower cost tiers.  If they could do a $10 digital download or add a couple of goodies to the other tiers might get people more interested.

It isn't looking good as their pledge amounts haven't moved for a couple of days.

That's not a good sign.

If you don't like their music, or if you can't afford it, that is totally understandable. But if your concern is over pledging a crowd funded project, you really shouldn't be worried. The guys from Stairway are really cool, and trustworthy.
