We all have it. We have CDs that we play when we're angry or hurt. We have music we prefer when we are feeling down. We have music that we want to hear when we're in an incredibly good mood.
What's your mood music?

When I feel like Charlie Brown, like I can't do anything right or feel like a jerk I like to listen to this song. Not a Christian song, but listen to the lyrics. It's a country song and believe me I do not like country at all -- but Chris Knight is a little more traditional sounding and I first heard this when it was a new song and I was working at a country radio station in Cookeville, TN. For the most part it sounds like me on a bad day and something I would've wrote if I could write.

I really don't have "mood" music. Though I don't like ballads or slow music when I'm driving.

Yikes, I thought I was rare in this... guess not. I have mood music for sure. When I'm ripped about something and just livid, I pop in Living Sacrifice's first release and sing along to it... gets the anger out. When I'm struggling with depression issues (and I know this may seem counter-productive) i listen to the Wall by Pink Floyd. From beginning to end. I feel a weird connection to that album... based on the emotions of a life of struggle that is evident in the main character of the Wall's story. I've met 2 other people in my life who do the same thing -when they struggle with depression, they listen to the Wall. Hard to explain but that's the case.

I have certain songs that bring out specific moods in me (but not typically entire albums).
Mike, I thought the lyrics to that song were fantastic!

And that's why I love the song just as much now as when I first heard it back in 96 or 97. That song is so me, country or not!
Agree about driving -- no slow tunes when driving.
Also for me, not entire albums, normally it is songs. Been a while since I have had mood songs but since thinking of this thread I have played that Chris Knight song several times today just to enjoy it.

There's another form of music I listen to when I'm super stressed or have severe anxiety.... No laughing, ok ? But I love to listen to Enya, Maire Brennan, Celtic Psalms, and Tabitha Fair shuffled at work on days I'm stressed out. It works ! Their hauntingly relaxing Celtic sound is as good as a Xanax

One does not "sing" to Living Sacrifice.

Oh contraire, mon douteur ! Their first self titled album is quite singable, as I know every word of that album, and his vox are awesome on that trve thrash metal release.... unlike all the rest of LS's catalogue of impossible-to-understand growling.

I love Nonexistent, but it sounds like DJ is constipated throughout the whole album. At the 50 second mark, it sounds like he's really straining.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself!
Actually, I don't find that to be that odd, in a manly metrosexual kind of way.

Can't say I have mood music anymore now that I'm a Christian. Definitely did when I wasn't. Now I'll just listen to any of my favorites though there are times when I prefer a particular style for variety. Been listening to Theocracy a lot lately.

For me, I listen to Rose a lot if I am exceptionally down.
If I am angry, anything aggressive will do.
For times when the world just overwhelms me, I prefer quieter stuff like Casting Crowns or MercyMe.

When I'm down, I mean really down, I tend to go for The Civil Wars or "My Immortal" by Evanescence. When I'm angry, anything loud and fast will do. When I need a bit more "oomph" for whatever I'm doing, I go to "Not Ready to Die" by Demon Hunter or Whitecross' "No Way I'm Going Down."

I tell ya, it's really therapeutic ! For some of us who have health conditions and stress issues, and take things like xanax occasionally, this type of music really has an amazing effect on the brain and calms you down as good as a drug.
Music is like something you can plug into for different emotions or even conditions. Glory to God for the gift of music !

When my head ot I feel overwhelmed it helps to listen to music to make my head empty.
I prefer to listen to the hardest music in my collection.

Laugh!? Dude, I LOVE Celtic-flavored music. Lorena McKennitt is one of my favorite female musicians!

When I am in a bad mood I tend to reach for Metallica or Megadeth, which is not good as they don't do anything to improve my mood. Oddly enough, though, listening to them at other times doesn't seem to worsen my mood.
Other than that I don't think I have any mood-particular music.

Crazy as it may sound, I am in the mood for this today and will listen to this all day. Spotify has a great selection from the Ultra-Lounge series.
