| Mine is from some friends in high school. We were... intoxicated... and decided it would be a fun idea to give each other nicknames that were old, Amish sounding names. One of us was Josiah, one was Isaac, one was Mordecai and I was Ishmael. No one else really got the joke and the nicknames didn't stick (thank you Jesus) but it was and still is my email handle as well. | |

Kind of like the tv shows named after the star....then they keep their name the same (you know...so they don't forget their stage name) i.e. Everybody Loves Raymond (starring Ray Romano) Rosanne (starring Rosanne Barr) According to Jim (starring Jim Belushi) _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... | That's the problem when you have a nickname based on the name of a band. When you don't like the band anymore, you have to change your nickname.

Maybe time to change your nickname DBF? I've thought about changing it… but everybody already knows me as DBF. I've thought about changing it to something from a Rush song… such as Driven, RedSectorA, ElectricBody… or maybe Clutch, for my interest in the manual transmission. Suggestions are welcomed.

The part that worries me is that "his mind is not for rent to any god or government"… then again, mine isn't for "rent" but is given back to whom it belongs. Plus, Tom Sawyer is originally a Mark Twain story. Ooh, maybe Xanadu…

| Well..my nickname of bought4life I use EVERYWHERE..including my email.
Obviously, you all can figure what bought4life means...
I chose it because of the fact that I seem to constantly fall back into sin, and that I seem to constantly go against what I know is right, and I am a horrible excuse of a Christian, and sometimes I wonder if I would even make it to Heaven...
BUT...at the end of the day, I can't deny what I believe and I know the price that has been paid for my salvation. So I keep turning around, trying to finally put myself into a position of steadfastness and in a position that God can use me.
He has bought me for life....and I will never renounce my Savior's call. |

Actually, I was just trying to be funny at the time when I joined the CMR. It worked. I use it for a lot of things now including my geocaching name. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| Mine I thought over for quite a while and wanted something simple to convey the fact that we as God's children are one thing, and yet something else all at the same time. We are "Saints" yet simultaneously "sinners", we dwell on earth but our citizenship is in heaven, I'm a prisoner of sin yet He has made me free, I have to take up a cross in order to wear a crown, I am a fool in the eyes of the wise -yet God has chosen me.... So I thought of "Paradox" but didn't want people thinking "Paradox" was my favorite band or something. I thought of "Enigma", but that sounds like my personality is an enigma, which it is sometimes, but I didn't care for the name... sounded too much like a Marvel comic's character. I thought about "Conundrum" but I don't play the drums So I finally settled on the simple but profoundly true "Guilty/Forgiven". I actually thought of it one day when I was driving and seen someone's bumper sticker that said "Guilty" ( I don't know what that is, shoes? clothing supplier? Skateboards? whatever.....) - but I thought "yes, we are ALL guilty, but some who choose Jesus, or for the bigger enigma of it all, are CHOSEN by Jesus, we're forgiven at the same time we're guilty" Thus the simple but profound nick-name. | |

But your mind is for rent to any god, because you are all ready bought and paid for (and sold out) to the only God there is! _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

No he was quite clear, he doesn't like "it". Why he would be so hostile towards "it" I don't know. I just want to know if it is the word "it" that he doesn't like, or the physical "it" that vexes him so. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

Although it's probably not that politically correct to be called Fundy!
I used to be Fullmetalracket many years ago! _________________ My Christian Metal Website......... Silence Is Madness
