| When I was a kid and watched the Charlie brown Christmas special, I always thought that kid was doing the weirdest dance... until I got a little older and the rap/hip-hop genre took off.... then I realized Charles Shultz was a prophet. | |

| Someone who's experienced the life altering change that only Christ Jesus can bring to a human by being born from above and being marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing his inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession - to the praise of God's glory.... I don't know about you, but that would make me STAY BRIGHT. | |

| I know you guys are just goofing around, but the name "Staybrite" actually does come from a product. Some of you already heard this before but the name "Staybrite" was a name given to me in the the Army by my platoon sergeant (way back in 1988). Back in the old days the U.S. Army would issue soldiers their rank and insignia in the form of dull metal pins. You were expected to spend hours polishing the pins yourself to make they shine on your uniform (they tarnished easily, so this is something you would need to do often). Well the Sta-Brite company made the exact same insignia that had a permanently polished shine, and you never had to polish them yourself. My platoon sergeant was so happy with my performance as a young soldier that he gave me the nick-name Staybrite (to signify that I was always ready for duty....and usually with a positive attitude). My last name is Stielow, so he would often refer to me as "Staybrite-Stielow". When I was joining the CMR about a decade ago I could not for the life of me think of a user name that someone else didn't already have (seriously, I tried 5 or 6 names just to find someone else was already using it)...so remembering my old Army nick-name I fell back on that and have been Staybrite ever since. The only thing I dislike about it is that because I have such and sunflowery, shiny sounding name people on occasion think I am female. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... | Very cool bro ! Never knew the Origins of the great StayBrite ! Awesome story. I thought it'd be cool to have a thread explaining all of our nicknames here on CHM, then thought to myself - not many of ours would have such a cool and meaningful origin as yours - haha.
BTW, I did the same thing many moons ago, putting in several different nickname only to have the stupid program tell me "that name is already taken, try another one"... so I originally settled on ApologetiXFreak... but that proved to be more of a fad for me and not something that would stick for the duration.

| I agree, G/F is a much better name than Apo-freak. Do you remember any of the user names you tried that were rejected? It's been so long now that I can't remember any of the ones I tried. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Mine is pretty obvious... and it's funny, I'm not as much into the DB as I used to be.
Listened to Straight Ahead recently, though. The bass (Rickenbacker? Dan played his Rick at the 2013 shows) is pretty present at times.

Maybe time to change your nickname DBF?

| Thanks for the encouraging words about my new nickname. If I were to follow the fad of fav bands as my name, I'd currently be GXProjectFreak, or BoneProphetPhreak.... it doesn't work when your tastes change.
As far as names I thought of wayyyy back in the day... I can't recall any right now - but if I do, I'll be sure to post them.
