Here's the Spotlight of December with all your answers on the questions you had for Bill Menchen.
Thank you Bill for answering all the questions
- How does he find the time to record all of these projects?
I have a home studio, so I don't have to go anywhere.
- Are their plans to do any more Titanic albums with the current line up?
maybe...- Are their any plans for more Final Axe albums?
No.- Are the rumors about the Redeemer and Rev Seven projects being
reissued with Robert Sweet on drums true?
Yes. Retroactive Records said they would like to do it, but nothing is
chiseled in stone, and it would off into the future.- How did Bill and Robert Sweet meet?
While I was in Titanic in 1996. Roberts mom was a friend of the wife of
one of our members.- Can he move to Nashville so I can be in his bands? (Just kidding)
Yes, in theory.- What types of guitars does Bill like to use?
My guitars are all shown at http://www.theseventhpower.com/axes.html. I
usually play the white Gibson, or the Korina Gibson.- Are there any touring plans for either Titanic or Menchen? Hooking up
with Stryper after "Murder By Pride" would be excellent!
No plans.- What is his rig set up is like. His tone is so consistent, I can pick
out his playing on just about anything
I use a custom made vacuum tube preamp. The recorded sound you hear is
that preamp going through a Hughes & Kettner Red Box directly into Pro
Tools.
- How did it all started? What was your first band you played in?
When I was 18, me and some friends started a band we called Asteroid.
- You have played in many bands with many different musicians. What is
your favorite band you played in?
It's hard to say. Something about each one is special.-What band fits musical and lyrical very close to your favorite taste?
I can't think of any that fit both. Maybe thats why I have to make my
own...
- What are your favorite bands you love to listen too?
I used to have a lot of favorites, but I don't listen to any group
exclusively anymore. I like a song here and there that I may come
across. Maybe in a movie, or somewhere else. But no group really
captivates me.-Now you have worked so hard to do many reissues, some new stuff, what's
your next musical project?
There are more reissues coming out 2009. I will be doing a lot less
music in 2009, but we will probably record another Menchen CD. Don't
know when it would be released though...
