My first time listening to Daniel Band in a long time Empty
PostSubject: My first time listening to Daniel Band in a long time   My first time listening to Daniel Band in a long time I_icon_minitimeFri Jun 07, 2024 7:14 am

So back in the '80s, I was pretty hooked on Daniel Band and played them in a constant rotation with Resurrection Band,  Servant, Fireworks, Petra, and Jerusalem. Then bands like Messiah Prophet, Saint, and of course Stryper, burst onto the scene in '84 and changed my musical tastes forever.

I would still spin those original bands now and then, especially when Jerusalem 's Dancing on the Head of the Serpent came out, but they never held my attention again like they used to.

I just went back the other day and started listening to some Daniel Band for the first time in well over a decade... I'd actually bought all the remasters just never bothered to listen to them..

I know DB is a well-loved band so this is probably not going to sit well with a lot of people, but my goodness, listening to their music, even the remastered music, seems so dull and lifeless.

There's no punch

There's no bass

McCabe's voice seems weak

Their music just left me with a hollow feeling

How do you guys feel about them as of today?

Daniel Band was one of those that I couldn't ever get into.  What I've heard of theirs isn't bad or terrible, it just doesn't do anything for me.

It's a shame because I feel like it pretty much all boils down to McCabe right?

He's the basist and the lead singer.

And those were the two biggest issues I had with the band LOL

I haven't given enough of a close listen to analyze what it may be.  It's just one of those things where I haven't heard anything that made me want to stop and listen.

I actually didn't get into them until the remasters came out.  I like them, personally.

I didn't get any of their music until around 2008-2010.  I got the feeling part of what held them back was their recordings.  There seems to be a lot you can do with a professional recording (even in the 80's) to give the songs more punch and feeling, but I don't think that was ever done.  Remastering isn't likely to fix that.  Having said that I dig the music for what it is... which is mostly a nostalgic sound I wasn't around to enjoy when it was new (if that makes sense).
