I recently came across a music vid which reminded me of a movie. So then I had the urge to look it up. Granted, Blaze of Glory is from Young Guns 2 but I am getting ready to watch the 1st Young Guns.

I watched Deadly Engineering on Discovery+. I'd say about 75% of it was human/operator error rather than poor engineering.

Sadly there is a deadly accident that happened in Florida a few years back which was mostly an Engineering mistake. I also think the University messed up by not having the design for the atypical bridge reviewed by the Department of Transportation.

Oh wow, interesting. As a structural engineer I took quite a bit of interest in that bridge collapse. I've never designed any bridges, but at one time I thought I wanted to be a bridge engineer (turns out it isn't nearly as fun as it looks). That was a very interesting design and a long span for such a slender (and shallow) concrete truss bridge. I guess this style is popular in Europe, but not very common here in the U.S. At the time of the collapse I was living in Washington a few miles south of a very old concrete truss (vehicle) bridge. It's a really neat bridge (from the 30's) it was designed for vehicle loading (two lanes) and had a shorter span than the Florida bridge, but it include two trusses instead of the single truss on the Florida bridge that collapsed. I know, I'm giving more information than anyone asked for, but I like bridges, especially the old ones. If Driven still frequented our board he would dig this. (article link below with some cool pictures of the Washington bridge)

A Man Called Otto (2022) Tom Hanks. Not bad, very heart-warming kind of story.

Off to see Hypnotic tonight. It's got very mixed reviews, so should be interesting!

I dug that entire franchise (even the new/re-boot version). Beyond Thunderdome was fun even if it was cheesy. What's funny is the whole Bartertown justice system where you have to "spin the wheel" if you break a law came up with my wife last week. She has been doing clay pottery for the last year and is going to get trained on the pottery wheel soon. When ever she says "the wheel" I chim in with "bust a deal, face the wheel"! Then for the next hour I'm chanting "two men enter, one man leaves". I'm sure it is a delight to be married to me.

I'm assuming you mean the 2023 film with Ben Affleck. I've seen the preview and it looks freaky. Kind of reminds me of that weird "Inception" movie with Leo DeCaprio a few years back.
Let me know what you thought of it.

I went in expecting the worst, and was actually quite entertained. It wasn't great, but I'd give it a 7 out of 10. It's like The Truman Show, Inception and The Adjustment Bureau all put together. Ben did look a bit sleepy all the way through it. Also it is only 94 minutes long, and was over really quickly. I reckon an extra 30 minutes or so, to flesh out the characters a bit more, and give the story some more depth, would have been good.
Still, it was good fun.
If anyone goes to see it, don't leave at the end. We did, then one of my friends left his phone on the seat, when he went back in there was another scene being played in the middle of the credits! We had to go on the internet to find out what happened!

7 out of 10 certainly isn't too bad these days.

Samaritan (2022)
After a glut of super hero movies that don't seem to make you care about the characters, this Stallone movie does just that. You see a broken hero who has to fight once more. A young boy named Sam figures out who he is and the hero begins to care about the young lad. Getting sucked in by the movie's villain, Sam needs rescuing and Samaritan comes out tonight with a vengeance.
I am not a big Stallone fan, but this was really well done!

I watched that with my wife several months ago (maybe close to a year). I thought it was really good. More of a character piece then a super heavy action kind of flick.

I started The Old Man on Hulu.
I also saw Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in the theater yesterday.

GOTG3 was great fun. Did you enjoy it?
I saw Spiderman - Across The Spider Verse yesterday with some friends. I'm not much of a super hero fan apart from a few (Nolan Batman trilogy, a couple of the recent marvel ones, and Guardians), but this was super entertaining. It was filmed so well, the animation was on point, the story was good, and the humour was great. It's long for an animation (2 hours 16 minutes I think) but it went by really quickly. I was suprised at how few people were watching it with us. The cinema holds 500+ people, and I reckon (not including the 4 of us) there were about 30 people there, max. Sad, because it was such a good movie, right up there with the best I've seen in the last few years.

GOTG3 was much fun! It shows that Marvel VOULD still be the story telling that they once did before the trainwrecks of Ms. Marvel and Sh-Hulk.
I finished the first season of The Old Man on Hulu.
Now, I am starting The Citadel on Amazon.

Clerks (1994). I had never seen this indie movie and had heard over the years from several people just how amazing it was. I'm thinking I should have watched in the 90's (and before becoming a Christian). While some of it was clever, it was not amazing. Also littered with horrible language and subject matter. I do not recommend.

Tiptoes (2003) - A movie that starts out as a romantic comedy and quickly turns into a drama. This has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. You would think with the big name celebrities in the film that it would have done better. Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) planes a worthless throw-away part complete with a terrible French accent. Patricia Arquette plays his equally unnecessary girlfriend. The lead parts are Kate Beckinsale, Matthew McConaughey, and Gary Oldman as a dwarf! Yes Oldman spends the entirety of the film walking on his knees to look like a dwarf...he also just happens to be the "twin brother" of McConaughey's character! Bad writing, horrible directing and subpar acting. It was so bad I couldn't stop watching it.
