Roxology, Debut LAYTON & MARTIN Album Details Revealed: Album release: May 28, 2021 Roxx Records is very honored to be a part of this one and working with these two amazing artists Nick Layton (FIREWOLFE, Q5) and Roger Dale Martin (VENGEANCE RISING, DIE HAPPY) in conjunction with Sanctuary International. Going under the name LAYTON & MARTIN (L&M), this debut album is an instrumental masterpiece, combining some of the most classic hymns and amazing rock music to create Roxology (Unearthing Majestic Hymns from The Catacombs). The LAYTON & MARTIN Roxology album is the culmination of years of work that began with one song (“Deep, Deep Love Of Jesus”). After that song was recorded, a vision began to develop for a full album of classic instrumental hymns. In the 21st century, the hymns are largely ignored, as well as their deep and rich content - relegating them to the catacombs of music history. Beyond that, many people who have a great connection to hard rock and heavy metal music have not been introduced to these masterpieces of musical expression. Thus Roxology. Ten amazingly arranged and performed classic hymns that not only Rox your ears, but your soul as well. This album includes the lyrics to each song. They are provided so the listener can spend time meditating on the great Biblical truths declared by the original hymn writers. In addition, the band will be launching www.RoxologyMusic.com very soon, with stories and study tools that bring each song to life. This music will enrich you in your pursuit of a deeper and richer worship of our Majestic God. As stated by the 19th century, English pastor J.C. Ryle, “Good hymns are an immense blessing to the Church. They train people for heaven, where praise is one of the principal occupations.” Roxology track listing: 1. “A Mighty Fortress” 2. “How Great Thou Art” 3. “O Holy Night” 4. “Deep, Deep Love” 5. “Nothing But The Blood” 6. “Old Rugged Cross” 7. “They’ll Know We Are Christians” 8. “It Is Well” 9. “Holy Holy Holy” 10. “I’ll Fly Away”

This is cool, but I would be more apt to get this if they had included a vocalist.

I love instrumentals. I'll have to check out more of this.
6 Degrees of Separation: I bought a bass amp from Evan Sheeley, bassist for Q5.

This is certainly more appealing to me than normal instrumental albums. However, I still think I would get bored with it. If it’s available on Spotify, I’ll check it out a few times and see if I like it.

Sure we want to hear your thoughts.
I listened to the track and I admit I find it more interesting than most instrumental music, but I still don't think I would want to listen to it regularly enough to merit buying an entire album of it. Maybe some additional tracks might persuade me different, who knows?

Personally, I love instrumental music. My favorite praise and worship tunes are the ones without words ( though I have to admit I have grown very fond of the old 80's Maranatha! praise songs that are based solely on scripture; there's just something about singing God's word back to them that really fans the flames. But I digress ), and I love the old Vinnie Moore, Joe Satriani, and Tony MacAlpine stuff, among others. I am not sure I'll be buying this, however, as it's not available digitally and $12 + shipping (I'm assuming probably $4 or more) is a bit steep. Strange, there was a time when I wouldn't buy digitally as I preferred the shiny discs, but God has really changed my perspective on material goods this past year; I've been "this close" to putting my entire CD and vinyl collection up for sale! What is also strange is that I can definitely afford the CD, but again the LORD has really altered my perspective on being proper stewardship of what He continues to bless me with. Now, if RP makes it available for a $5 download I might be more inclined to get it. What I heard from the YT vid sounds awesome.

Yeah, been there for a long time (since dropping my show). I view it that I have so much that I already love to listen to that it has to be able to stand in the same company for me to purchase. If it won't make the cut to the regular rotation on my phone, it doesn't get bought (aside from Christmas music, which I don't put on my phone).

I use Spotify for this very reason. There are so many albums I probably would’ve bought, that after listening to them once or twice on Spotify I’m never interested in again. That small monthly charge has saved me hundreds of dollars, if not more.
