Lacey Sturm - New Single "State Of Me"

Lacey has released a new song titled "State of Me".  It looks like she spent at least part of last year working on new music (she released another new song "The Decree" back in May of 2020).  So not sure if she is getting close to releasing a new album or not.

I'm am so bad about lyrics, I didn't even pay any attention.  It can't be any worse than the typical Dio song.

To me, this seems to be about a girl who struggled with depression for 5 months.  Knowing Lacey has fought with this before Flyleaf and later had post-partem depression after her first child was born, I am guessing that this is her.  She is collecting gray rain, or tears.  She thinks that everything is righting itself, but she soon realizes that everything is still messed up in her head.  She then reads the pages of the decree (the Word of God) and sees that Heaven's throne (Jesus, the King Of Kings) has literally come down to earth.  Because of this, she can laugh again while the world cries.  Her burdens are lifted allowing her to "float over stratospheres".  The years wasted are now redeemed.

Then she warns that the decree (again, God's word) has never been louder and that the end of everything is here.




How did I do?  For someone who doesn't get a lot of overly poetic lyrics, I think I nailed this one.

Lacey's website is teasing something big on 5/5/21.  I am betting that is when the full length album drops.  It is hard to believe that it has already been five years since her last one.

Yes yes yes yes yes.  This year so far has been a much, much better one for music.  Trytan, Perpetual Paranoia, the revamped Deliverance WAJ and Xalt (they just arrived with PP), Undercover, The Choir, Chagall Guevara, Transatlantic, Camelot21, Guidestones, new Deliverance, the 77s...AGH! I just can't stand it!!! 

Never heard of Transatlantic or Guidestones.

Never heard of Neal Morse/Mike Portnoy/Roine Stolt supergroup? They've been around since the 90s.  

Guidestones is a future Jimmy Brown project.

Ok, I have heard of Transatlantic but have never bought a CD.  Just the first two names involved tells me to steer clear of this.  I am not a fan of progressive metal with excessively long songs.

I haven't heard anything about Guidestones.  Since I am dead set against doing Patreon for any artist, I guess I would not be in the know.  I am okay with that and will hear samples when it comes out.  If it is anything like Erasurehead, I would probably like it.
